At DLR right now but ...

They should have the park pretty to themselves then.

OH yeah. When we went in Sept '05, it was even raining down in San Diego (my brother blamed me b/c he says it never rains there). We got to the park a bit late, but as soon as the skies opened up more than drizzling, the park emptied out. It was well after noon when people started coming back once the rain stopped, but in that time we had a great time with no lines!

I hope that's your experience today. And remember those first aid stations, if you start feeling unwell while having fun in the parks! I don't know exactly what they would do for you, but they sure helped us with blisters and a blistering headache!!!

Here's hoping the rain doesn't drive you guys out too. I am going to be the optimist here...if she's not posting, she's having fun! As it should be.

well since you brought up san diego, it has been raining all day down here, I've never seen it rain all day, usually you get long breaks, but not a one. . .

how bad has it been up there in anaheim today???

It rained non-stop and pretty hard from 8 am until between 2-3 pm. Created lots and lots of standing water in the parks.

It has drizzled on and off since then, and is supposed to start picking back up to a full-on hard rain again sometime around 6 pm (I've been a bit obsessed about the weather today as I sit in my room at the HoJo). :rolleyes1

Just got home and can't believe you guys have all been wondering about how we're doing :lmao:

Okay so after an uneventful night - yes there was absolutely NO BARFING! - everyone seemed better and capable of handling a day at Disney so off we head ... out into the pouring rain. Hmm. Okay, so what's a little rain, right? No big deal. Decide to catch the ART over but it's 15 minutes late ... 15 minutes of standing outside the La Quinta with NO COVER and increasingly heavy downpours. And yes I know you all suggested taking rain ponchos but I was being supremely optimistic and never thought I'd need them :rotfl2: It never rains in Southern California! The song lied to me!

We were so soaked by the time we got to Disneyland. Dragged our soggy selves over to the Tour Gazebo ... only to find out that Discover the Magic was cancelled due to the weather. My carefully planned birthday extravaganza had become a total washout. This was the last straw. I started crying :rotfl: This poor CM just looked on me with pity as I blurted out something that must've sounded like "I can't believe it I know it's not your fault I mean you don't control the weather right but we've all been so sick and we've come so far and missed out on all our Disney days and it's his 10th birthday and wahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!" They took pity on me and asked me if there was any rides we really wanted to go on that we hadn't been on yet. Foolish me said oh no that's okay. NEMO! I SHOULD'VE SAID NEMO! Doh. Anyway, the nice CM gave us a voucher for 6 free hot drinks. :thumbsup2

So. Wet to the bone, freezing cold, no Discover the Magic, likely to be no Fantasmic and no point in doing Goofy's Kitchen since nobody could eat anything much. Sigh. Seriously, what is up with that. :)

I'd also made sure to get DS9 - oops that's DS10 now - his birthday button first thing when we came in. It had a hilariously negative effect :lmao: Being autistic he finds it hard when people talk to him out of the blue, so all day long CM's were wishing him a happy birthday until finally I had to take the badge of because he complained "Mummy that is SO ANNOYING!" :rotfl: I really liked the Jungle Cruise skipper though, who made everyone on board clap against the side of the boat as he sang "This is our birthday song, it isn't very long".

Anyway we decided to just make the most of it and ended up having a wonderful day. The crowds weren't light, oddly enough, and puddles puddles everywhere, on every seat and every ride. But the boys never once complained about the cold or the rain and we just meandered about doing some shopping and hopping on rides when the mood struck. I got us into the Happiest Birthday on Earth and it was really good fun! Well I thought so anyway :rotfl: I'll put the details in my trip report.

Thanks for being so interested :) It really freaked me out to come home and read that anyone was waiting for the next installment of Barfapalooza '07.

I'm so happy to hear everyone is feeling better and that you were able to stay longer! Fingers crossed that the rest of your trip (and flight home!) go well!

You guys are scaring me saying that this stuff is going around! For the past 3 years it's gone around where I live all the time. I've had it 2-3 times per year! Unreal! I get it REALLY bad, probably due to other health problems not helping. I usually end up in the ER getting anti-vomitting meds and fluids in an IV. I've been trying SO hard to stay well from it this year. Throwing up is just the worst!

I am so glad everyone is feeling a better... take it slow the next couple days still..... but enjoy you time at Disneyland... it is a great time of the year to be there... sorry to hear you had to cancel part of the trip but with the ages of your kids I think they will enjoy staying in Anaheim more than Big Sur... if you like I can send so photos so they can 'see' what they missed...What did you plan to do in Santa Clarita?

Have a great day tomorrow at the parks and HAPPY BIRTHDAY to your son!
We may be at the parks on Sunday... maybe we will run into you!

Yes Big Sur was more for us than for them. Santa Clarita was just a convenient base on the way back from SF to do Universal and some of the assorted Hollywood things ... didn't want to stay in LA itself.

Thank you so much and have a great time on Sunday!

Hugs to you! Way to be a trooper!!!

I'm so glad and relieved for you that things are looking a little better. And thank goodness you extended your time there so you all can enjoy the area a bit more.

Tell your son that everyone on the DisBoards sends him a great BIG

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

:bday: party:

That's so nice! Thank you. :flower3:

Barfapalooza '07

 :lmao: I have to find the tag fairy.

I am a true believer that all things happen for a reason. (We had our own Barfest '00 in WDW) I know that something special is just around the corner for you.

Please keep us updated on your adventures.

Well, even though it sounded like a miserably wet day at Disneyland, it sure is better than a barfy day in a hotel room!:goodvibes

When you said you started to cry when you heard the Discover the Magic tour was cancelled, I felt soooooooo bad for you!:sad1: But then I actually started to giggle a little. Earlier I kept thinking, "Things have to get better for them now. What else could possibly go wrong?!" And then BAM!!!.....pouring rain.....family gets soaked to the bone waiting for a bus.....no Discover the Magic tour......barfy family can't eat at Goofy's Kitchen.....

You know how after awhile, when so many things keep going wrong, it becomes kind of comical?

Your experience reads like an Australian version of the movie "Vacation" (the first "Vacation" with Chevy Chase, when he takes his family across the country in a station wagon to get to Wally World).:rotfl:

I'm sorry to say that. I hope I didn't upset you at all.:guilty: My family tells me I have a morbid sense of humor.:rolleyes1

Seriously though, I'm so happy that everyone is feeling better and able to go out and have some fun! And I hope your son had a happy birthday too!

Keep me updated on your day today. I'll be waiting patiently for the next installment of "Barfapalooza '07".:goodvibes popcorn::

(My husband has gotten hooked on this thread too, so he's also waiting patiently.)

I can't wait to hear about today..and I am SO happy that you/they are feeling better :grouphug:

Bring on the next chapter of Barfapalooza 2007 (a priceless name by the way!)

You are SO strong to be able to keep your sense of humor through all of this! I think I'd have wanted to curl up in the fetal position and cry until I made my way home.
You are SUPER-WOMAN, and an incredible Mother!!!!

Well hey I'm at Disneyland with my two beautiful boys, they're healthy and talking and giving me cuddles and smiling. Now that right there is my something special :)

Ohhhh yes, any day at Disneyland is better than Barfapalooza :lmao: In fact any day at all is better than that.

:rotfl2: at the Vacation reference because after my little tear at the Tour desk, I composed myself and turned around to DH and just cracked up. It was so funny. Just then the skies opened yet again and we got soaked as we stood there wondering what to do next. I looked at him and said "OMG Honey, we're the Griswalds" :lmao: If there's a green station wagon with wood panelling waiting for us at the car rental place tomorrow ...

LOL at the thought of you guys sitting there waiting for the next piece of the saga. "Honey, quick, come see! The little one's stopped barfing but now it's the birthday boy's turn ... popcorn:: ... oh man, it's raining now ... what, Discover the Magic got cancelled? Now that's just too far-fetched. Must be sweeps week."

Well what are ya gonna do right? That's just life, although sometimes I do wonder why the universe had decided I need to learn THIS many lessons :lmao:

Aw shucks  Thank you for those kind words.

So anyway today we didn't even attempt to tackle the Saturday/candelight processional crowds. We all slept in (oh how glorious) and meandered over to Downtown Disney to see Enchanted. What a great movie! We all loved it. And the cinema was huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuge. Biggest screen I've ever seen. Then we had a late lunch at Rainforest Cafe (I think we must've tipped the guy too much because he said thank you about seven times :rotfl2: ) and shopping at the Lego store (hmm, don't think the Millenium Falcon will fit in the suitcase honey). Totally blissful relaxed day. Kids are all happily putting together Lego and playing nicely at the moment. And absolutely nobody is vomiting :rotfl: :cheer2:

We pick up the hire car tomorrow so think we might go up to LA and do some museums for a change of pace. Hit Disney again during the week. I am so glad we're still here :)
