at how dirty it was compared to other Disney properties. The toilets in particular were disgusting. I have been to Disney World, Disney Land California and Disney Land Hong Kong and I was seriously in shock at the conditions of the facilities in DLP.

Tnhere is a joke around here that says "Why do you put an S to Toilets in France ? ... because you have to visit more than one to find a correct one..."

But I have to say that that joke is an old one and things are better now ...
And the one thing , I never had to complain about in DLP are the toilets , never had to wait(I'm just back from WDW and found that WDW toilets are accomodating less people than DLP's) and (almost) never had to look at a second one...

But I might be just lucky ...

For the rest , US parks are way cleaner than DLP , that's a fact !

I agree the toilets were awful, it took about 5 toilet checks each time to find a suitable one. Especially in the studios I had to hold my breath. Look at the Trafford centre, they also have a large number of visitors each day yet I have never found a dirty toilet in 12 years.

Has noone complained to Disney about the loos? Surely thats what they need feedback on facilities etc

IKWYM - I now know which ones to avoid as they are always filthy. :sad2:

I have informed City Hall one time as it was really bad and they took note blah blah but nothing further. Didn't see an improvement the following week put it that way.
There should be more people cleaning them and checking to see that everything is ok especially in the high season(s)

I think there is a difference in the way comments get dealt with depending if you are in a onsite hotel or a day visitor.

The other pbs are mostly due to the lack of respect of the other visitors rather than something DLP can deal with...for example we were there yesterday early evening and had a coffee outside. People don't clear up after themselves and because there was a fair bit of wind, paper cups, serviettes, plastic bottles were blowing all over the place and into the flowerbeds and around

Yes I cant believe the way so many people behave, I did see many people leave the toilet and as I followed them in they hadnt even flushed the chain... Then again several of the toilets were broken, old and didnt even flush! On one day I flushed it but the water splattered all over me. This must be so unhygenic. Can you imagine if had been a small child it would have splattered all over their face.

I emailed Disney to say thankyou to a specific cast member who made our trip very special and I never even got a reply to say thankyou. No doubt they dont care about feedback!

I don't use the loo - I go in Salon Mickey in the morning then hold it in the afternoon :lmao: (Actually we always take a trip back to the hotel in high season and this gives plenty of time for a clean up and a toilet squeeze!)

This to me is the main problem with DLP and the reason it is not considered (and in my opinion never will be) a world-class vacation destination. Guests accept mediocrity.

Ridiculously short park hours-oh well, we'll do something else.
Filthy restrooms-oh well, we'll keep looking until we find a cleaner one.
Insane amount of simultaneous refurbs-Oh well, we'll just wait longer in line for whatever is open.
Kids getting pushed and shoved when meeting characters-Oh well, that's just the way Europeans behave.
Very few park restaurants open for dinner-Oh well we'll go to the Village/resort and wait 90 minutes to eat.

Doesn't this seem a bit unreasonable? What does it take for you to start to question things?

- I've never known anything else - have nothing to compare it to. Apart from weekends, I've never been at DLP when its open until 11pm. In fact my first trip the main park closed at 6pm each day, so anything later than that I consider a bonus :rotfl:.

Filthy restrooms-oh well, we'll keep looking until we find a cleaner one.
- its a European theme park - no worse in that respect than any other major attraction/park I've been to in this country (UK). They are not always filthy.

Insane amount of simultaneous refurbs-Oh well, we'll just wait longer in line for whatever is open.
- only on my last trip in March was I missing anything or waiting longer for rides etc, in 9 trips, due to the amount of refurbs. Yes, if I'd known about them enough in advance, I would have rescheduled.

Kids getting pushed and shoved when meeting characters-Oh well, that's just the way Europeans behave.
- yes, it is, and we all have the choice to join/not the un-queued meet n greets.

Very few park restaurants open for dinner-Oh well we'll go to the Village/resort and wait 90 minutes to eat.
- I have never had to wait 90 minutes to eat anywhere at DLP - thats what reservations are for isn't it?

I do complain and I do praise where I consider my trip has been affected in a bad or good way at DLP - but as you can see, it hasn't yet stopped me returning, and feeling the Magic. But everyone is entitled to their opinion :).

I've only ever used the toilets in Cafe Hyperion and I thought they were fine.
On the other hand, i've been to much worse toilets in the UK, and i'm talking about ones in London you have to pay £1 to use!

I'm not good a the whole quote thing so let's call the points 1-5 in order
1. Accepting mediocre park hours
2. Accepting dirty rest rooms
3. I'll give you a pass on this one
4. Accepting inhumane behavior
5. After the parks closed we visited the buffets at SL, CHE, and SF and the lines were out the door at all 3. And this was at a supposedly slow time when the hours were cut and there were several ride closures. So it's reservation or nothing? Yeah, that seems reasonable.

Do you honestly think that DLP is above criticism? If so nothing will ever be improved.

I don't know why I debate this because your opinion is clearly right and mine is wrong.

no I absolutely don't think DLP is above criticism - my criticisms go to DLP, either when I am there, or after I've returned.

Opinions are neither right or wrong - they are opinions, and by their very nature humans will have different opinions on things :).

Ive done several trips to DLP where the park has been open til 10 or 11 in the evening and I dont think its ever closed before 8 (I know the studios close earlier. ) so with EMH that is usually 12 hrs in the park. Most theme parks in the UK close at 6.

Yes I agree the toilets are often dirty and also agree with what was said before that its often the fault of other guests - leaving the toilets unflushed, litter on the floor etc. Maybe DLP should do more to make sure it is kept clean but guests need to do their part as well

Refurbs - these are necessary. There is a lot of work being done in the park at the moment to repair things as well as seasonable closures and annual maintenance closures -however over on the DL board there are complaints there about the number rides and attractions closed at the same time so its not just DLP

Restaurants open - the restaurants in the park cant open for dinner if the park closes early but Ive had dinner in the park several times and there are several options in the village and hotels. yes you may need reservations but at least you dont have to book months in advance like you do in WDW to be able to get anything

Ok you've convinced me that DLP is perfect and I have no right to complain. Case closed. (Your opinion isn't wrong, mine is just more right)

Be honest, did you not think you were expressing yourself in a rather.......urm.....rude way? I had assumed, when reading your post, that you were being deliberately offensive to provoke a reaction. You made me smile, at least, so thanks.:)
You have given a number of reasons why you don't consider DLP a top notch holiday destination - all pretty reasonable - surely it is not necessary to sneer at people who don't have an issue with these things. One persons nightmare holiday is another mans ideal way to relax.

No one said it was perfect - it has it faults.
So does DL California, so does WDW, so do other non disney theme parks.

Well not everything and every where can be perfect. But for DLP I can say I have never been pick pocketed and had my wallet stolen or had my hotel room broken into. Both of these things have happend to me at other Disney Resorts.

There is a lot of thin skin on this board. I'll be waiting for my infraction warning.

Just moving off slightly onto the complaints side, for me the same old chestnuts keep cropping up at DLP

Characters queues n scrums- Disney MUST GET COMPLlAINTS OVER THIS- simply to sort, get the cast member who is given this job,he/she has to take control of the ques with a loudhaler, whatever and tell the people simple... carry on stepping out of line and THE CHARACTER WONT COME OUT...or as my wife has just said make proper queing line with barriers .This has to come from the top men at the park and they have to make it work.

Toilets-yes i agree what people have said, people leave them in such a state its an absolute disgrace ..maybe they have to clean them more often with more staff? I dont know ? Then the problem arises where they are continually shut?

My pethate SMOKING - Can anyone tel me if smoking is allowed in the park?( I believe they are supposed to smoke in designated areas and that cast members are supposed to tell them? WELL BLOODY WELL DO IT ! Because to my mind it shouldnt be allowed and along with the scrums in the ques if anyone refuses they should be removed from the park ...Item one and 3 are black and white to me ....scrums and smoking need sorting pretty sharpish and not let to roll on. Disney have along with its customers have put them selves high up there, standards need to be met and rules made and adhered to ...Sorry if i come across as like in your face sort of thing but im a black n white guy who sees no inbetween on anything ............ if 1 and 3 arnt sorted and i doubt the will be then Disney need to be brought to task over them especially when they both affect the children who go there for a dream holiday and end up with mum n dad scrummin to get to the front of the lines or having smoke blown at them.... not on..
On annother note watch out for my elbows/pram wheels as i will be pushing a disabled child in the park and i dont give a monkeys wether they be English or European i wont tolerate being pushed shoved on either buses or in the park,as an angry 18st guy with a disabled buggy is a potent weapon ! :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

Have fun and dont take me too seriously lol...but watch out! :rotfl2:

there won't be any need for infractions or warnings as long as the thread stays on topic, and doesn't get personal.
