We arrived Oct. 22. We (21 family members) flew out of Mpls/St. Paul and I was glad when all 21 suitcases, 4 golf bags and 4 car seats were checked. DH brought his own scooter for the first time (we usually rent one) and gate checking that worked fine.
We rented 3 minivans but most of the group rode DME so that we could use DME for our checked luggage. Minivans arrived at BWV before DME but not by too much. I did not do online check-in but miraculously all 4 rooms were ready. I had done everything in my power to get a one story GV because we have 2 one year olds in the GV. I had a 5 out of 7 chance to get a one story, but no dice. We are making it work. The view from the 2 story GV is spectacular. In fact all of our rooms (the GV, a 2 bedroom and 2 - 1 bedrooms) are BW view on 5th floor so we can see a lot of both Wishes and Illuminations from up here. All rooms were in tip-top shape. All DME luggage made it (another miracle). I have seen someone who appears to be a mousekeeping supervisor up here frequently.
I have posted photos of the 2 story GV on another thread. I could not find photos before our trip. My photos aren't great but they are better than anything I could find. Here is a link:

Regarding the new wifi: the first few days I had problems with my laptop not pulling up the wifi agreement screen so I frequently could not use the wifi. My iPhone had no trouble pulling up the agreement. Finally I got sick of the hassle and called the IT number. It took a while but now wifi on my laptop is working fine. He said something was wrong on their end (don't remember what it was).
Weather has been perfect 80° - 85° everyday. We may get our one day of rain tomorrow. We did MNSSHP on Tuesday. It was hard with so many little kids but I sure loved it. We did Sea World today. It was fine and a good choice for the little ones because it is so low-key and they loved the splash area.
That's all for now. I am enjoying a beer on the balcony and watching the Friendship boats. Heaven.

We have a family trip booked next May at BWV so I'm glad to hear everything is going great so far for you...except for the 2 story GV...that will be fun with the babies. We thought about booking a GV at OKW since the points were so low but I was worried about the stairs too with my grandsons. Everyone wanted to stay at BWV anyway. Our group is smaller so we did a 2 bed & a studio. I hope the rest of your trip goes well!

Thanks for the pics!! I learned something new. I thought all of the BWV GV were one floor. How many are one floor and how many 2 floors? Looking forward to your report.:goodvibes

Jean, those are some great pics. The place looks awesome. Have a great time, it sounds like you have quite a group. Should be a blast!

Jean -

I can't believe you didn't take the Master in the GV!! Although, I do see the appeal of having your own 1BR away from it all. I think it is fantastic that everyone made it, the luggage made it, and you can all enjoy a trip together. Have a wonderful time!

I have a question! Is there also an ethernet jack, or was that taken out when they went to WiFi?

So glad things are going well for you big family group and thanks for the GV pictures. They are just FINE!

Hope the rest is even better and sending :goodvibes for the trip home.

Have a wonderful time Jean!! I am amazed that all your luggage got there safely! Thankfully we now live close enough where we can drive and no longer need to worry about that. Off to look at your pics now. Thanks for sharing them!

We were having lots of problems with the Ethernet jack in our room at BWV, and not for the first time. It was flaky on our previous trip as well. It was a relief when the wireless service finally started working for us last week after a bit of a rough start. Tech Support said that they were having problems with the new service at BWV in particular but by the end of our stay it was great! Much faster than the wired service ever was. I hope it stays that way...

Hi, Jean. Great photos, too.

Wishing you and your family a great vacation.

I can just see the friendship boats on the lake now as I look at your photo.

I'll be down to BWV in December, and I can't wait for a little bit of heaven myself.

Have a great time! We're right behind you... Hopping board the Dream on Sunday and skipping over to BWV on Thursday. F&W festival :)

I just shut off wifi and plugged in ethernet and am posting from ethernet now. I am plugged directly into the Cisco unit, not the wall jack. I have had to do that at BWV for the last couple of years. When you use ethernet you still get the old "$9.95 but not for DVC" screen. Wifi just has a popup "Accept" screen. I have found both the ethernet and wifi to be fast. I was able to post large file size photos on the other thread and it was really quick. Last June at SSR I gave up trying to upload photos because they would time out. It will be interesting to see if ethernet stays and if wifi remains fast. I hope free ethernet stays so I can continue to use my Airport Express, which is secure. Unsecured Disney free wifi seems like an invitation for trouble.

Ate at Turf Club for the first time tonight. It was a last minute decision. We just showed up at about 5:30 or so and got a table. I had heard good reports and we were pleased. Both the prime rib and the lamb chops had excellent flavor. They were not the absolute most tender we have ever had but very good. The server was fantastic and I told the manager so. Prices there are very reasonable and TIW makes it even better. We will probably go back there in January.
I enjoyed walking over for Illuminations tonight. It is still almost 80° this evening and tomorrow is expected to be showery. I don't expect to be enjoying such lovely weather, even in Disney this winter, for many months so I want to take advantage of every minute.
I should have mentioned earlier that when we returned from Sea World today the mousekeeper was cleaning the GV. We had not ordered cleaning. I guess it must have been because we left a nice tip on T&T day on Tuesday. It was a nice surprise because one of the babies is still crawling and it is hard to keep the floors clean with 5 little ones in there.

We arrived on the 22nd as well. no trouble with wifi at all. We have a boardwalk green view studio 4th floor unit thats in very good shape. This is our first stay at our home resort since buyong into DVC earlier this year. I hope you're having as much fun as we are. Weather's perfect, F&W is awesome and the crowds are manageable. We had a 1 BR at SSR in March and was a little worried about staying in a smaller unit. Not too bad but we're hooked on the kitchen and washer/dryer setup. Don't want to hijack the post look forward to hear more from you. thanks

Wow! I can only dream about that view!:cloud9: We are headed for BWV in eight days but have a standard view. Thanks for sharing your photos and have a super trip! :goodvibes

I forgot to post earlier that our Welcome Packet contained a really nice color printed, double sided flyer listing pool games, nightly movies near the main pool, a nightly campfire, Community Hall activities and other recreation activities. I don't remember seeing this done so well in the past.
We leave for home tomorrow. It has showered lightly off and on today but no complaints because the rest of our vacation weather has been ideal. And this makes it easier for me to do laundry and start organizing for packing. Never did get to Toy Story Mania (haven't the last few trips), even though it is my favorite ride. One of the wonderful things about DVC is knowing that there is always a "next time" right around the corner, and for us that will be January.
This family gathering has been wonderful but tiring. If I were being honest it probably was not a good idea to come here with so many young kids. The parks aren't really that much fun for them. But it will soon be very hard to take the older ones out of school, so therein lies the rub. This may be our last trip with the whole family. I think sub-groups is the only way it will work. Perhaps some of you out there have also faced this bittersweet reality.

Glad to read Turf Club was a great meal. It's on my list. So happy that you and your husband were able to get together with the whole group. Cherish these moments. You'll have plenty of time to recouperate before January. Did anyone tell you the east coast (Maryland and north) are getting 6+ inches of snow Saturday!! :upsidedow
