We got in Tuesday late afternoon. Everything has been great. Our 3 grandmas of the group did a tour around the resort and learned a bunch of interesting facts. Our 6yr old DD did Stitch's Space Goo and had a blast, went back for a couple hours of free time at Auntie's later in the day. It's a good idea to pre-register your kids online to save time doing paperwork upon checking in your kids. Line was about 20 deep at 7:30am. The Ulu Cafe is a good spot for breakfast, giant plate of eggs, potatoes and bacon goes for about $10. The refillable mugs are $20 and are a great deal too. Tomorrow we have a Chef demo tour through the concierge desk for about $18 a person, only on Thursdays. More to come!!!

ohhh-please report back how the Chefs demo tour is, that sounds very cool!

Would like to hear more about that when you've done it. I've recently gotten into gourmet cooking and might find it interesting.

Isn't this your second trip to Aulani? I'm always curious to hear from repeat guests if they notice any changes at Aulani, good or bad, over the years.

Have fun and enjoy your trip!

This is actually my 3rd time to Aulani. First was in 2012, then 2013 and this week. The additions to the resort have been great. The Ulu cafe is a convenient spot for refills and breakfast. The new grotto is a good break from the main pool, hasn't been busy at all. We've found seats by the new Keiki Cove two days in a row without a problem. Seats by the main pool are getting reserved pretty early. Seems as though some guests are using the seating policy to their advantage by folding their towels on the chairs to make it appear as though a cast member has already checked that area. It's not a complaint, because we found chairs elsewhere, but they need a better system for tracking who is just saving chairs for later vs who is using them.

The Chef demo was actually the head pastry chef who gave us a demo of how to make macaroons. We got to try several different flavors and he explained his methods every step of the way. It wasn't much of a "tour" as we just sat inside Makahiki, but it was fun. The two teens and the 6 yr old both were into it, just not the flavors of the treats lol.

We also did the Family Animation activity at the community room. That was pretty cool painting the animation cell. The actual "how to draw a Disney character" part was very rushed and from our seats we couldn't see the easel where he was drawing. After having done both Animation Academies in Ca and Florida, that part of the activity left some to be desired.

The addition of Coconut Shrimp to the menu at Mama's Snack shop is awesome! So tasty!

Again, many places close up earlier than expected, but if you plan accordingly (have groceries in room) it's not an issue.

Thanks for the info on the Chef demo, sounds great! I had thought that might be the case with the Family Animation activity, having done it before in the parks as well. Enjoy the rest of your time...

Aloha! I could use some Hawaii time right about now. I hope you continue to have a wonderful time.

Doesn't the folded towel on the chair back mean you only have an hour to return? CMs were enforcing this rule because the resort was at 95% capacity when we were there in October 2014. I think they should do it all the time just to get people out of the habit. And it lets someone else have the prime seats under the umbrellas.

Today was North Shore day. We started at Dole Plantation, just to look around, feed the fish and have a Dole Whip. Next was Waimea Beach with the large rock that everyone jumps off of. Almost 40 years old and I survived the jump lol. The waves at the beach are very strong so we didn't stay there long. Lunch time took us to Giovanni's Shrimp truck where finding parking is an adventure itself. The shrimp are awesome though! We could have gone to a couple of other beaches I know of but traffic was bad and we spent a good half day there, and everyone was worn out so we went back to Aulani for some time in the lazy river. We grilled some chicken on the grills behind Auntie's and we sadly missed the Movie nights and Finding Nemo.

Tomorrow is Hanauma Bay, Sea Life Park, Kualoa Ranch and Wet n' Wild, courtesy of our Go Oahu Card.

Looking forward to jumping in myself next week when we are there. You mentioned traffic was bad on North Shore - what time to you arrive?

We had no traffic problems at the North Shore area on Tuesday. We got over there around 11 and left around 6.

I guess because it was a friday the traffic seemed a bit more congested. Nonetheless today was a busy day. First Hanauma Bay from around 830-11am, then Sea Life Park til 130pm and Kualoa Ranch Movie Sites tour from 3-430pm. Wet n Wild was open til 9pm today so we made it there around 530-730pm. Long and fun filled day. We got the Go Oahu Card one day pass for $65 each and used them for about $120 worth of admissions.

Our trip is over and we are home safe after our flight was delayed 6 hours.

Sunday was Pearl Harbor and Swap meet

Monday was a beach picnic at the lagoon at Aulani, paddleboard and kayak, boogie boards and sand toys.

Tuesday was checking out of Aulani and heading towards Waikiki for one night at the Pagoda Hotel. We walked Waikiki and went to the Ala Moana Shopping Mall.

I'll work on a trip report soon! thanks for following!
