At AKV, why choose standard over value studio?

I agree. I also think being close to the Main Lodge as well as Boma and Jiko will continue to hold a lot of appeal for people.

Does anyone know what kind of distance walking wise it'll be from Kidani to Jambo?

Now, I wonder, is 50 sq. ft. much of a difference between standard and value?
Yes, I think the size difference for the studios is about 50 sq ft (Value studio: 316 sq ft, Other studios in Jambo House: 365 sq ft, Kidani Village studios: 366 sq ft). The studios in Jambo are all the same width, so the difference will be in the length, maybe 3-1/2 to 4 feet? The floor plans below are for a Value studio and a larger Jambo House studio. The kitchenette and bathroom areas appear to be the same size, so the difference will be in the living area.

And I also wonder, when Kidani is finished, why would anyone want to stay in Jambo, given the difference in sizes of these rooms and the fact of it being brand new? Do you think Jambo will be scrambling to put people in these "old" DVC rooms....hmmm.
I think the Values will be very popular since they are such a good deal and most of the people who book them will get either a savanna or a pool view. I think the Standard View in Jambo is also a good deal since they will all be pool view, as opposed to the Standard View rooms in Kidani where some will face the parking lot. For the Savanna View rooms, Kidani might be the better option since you have the possibility of getting a room on a lower floor closer to the animals as well as getting a larger room with an extra bathroom in the 1BRs and 2BRs. For me, it depends on how pretty the savanna views are in Kidani, how nice the pool area is, how good the restaurant is as compared to Boma, etc. I love the Lodge and will enjoy staying in that building unless the views from the Kidani rooms are just too compelling to pass up.

I think the buildings will be connected. At least it appears that way on the DVD that we were sent in the promotional package. I suppose the connecting area could be backstage only but am guessing that there will be a walk through of some type.

I also saw what could be part of the connecting walls from the accessible parking lot during our May visit. But the walls I saw didn't connect with each other at that point so not sure.

One more advantage of Kidani will be closer parking I think.

On the other hand, in Jambo House it will probably be easier to see a variety of animals from the different overlooks.

We are hoping to book a 1 BR Value next August. I just called for an AKV add on today so as soon as that goes through I'll be calling for my reservation. I should be within a week or two of the 11 month window, I hope I don't have a problem.

I just called & booked as well for April 9-20. they had Studios in value & standard available & 1 bdrms in Value. We booked standard Studio but now that I have read this, I think I might change to value....
