We're currently at AKL, staying on the 6th floor club level in a DVC 1-bedroom. We have a "savanna view", which is actually a construction view.
They are painting the graphic on the top of the lodge, which means that there are large construction cranes directly below our window as well as 3 very loud tanker trucks pumping something. They started at 8am this morning, even though the notice we got in the room about the construction, stated that they would be working from 9-5 Monday - Friday.
The smell outside is horrible, kinda like sewage. There are absolutely no animals in the savanna, which is not surprising.
We have to keep our drapes closed other wise people can look into our room.

The construction of the new DVC property isn't that noticeable. There is a rhythmic pounding, that fades in the background after awhile. Considering the extremely loud noise of the tanker trucks, the DVC property noise is very mild.

Needless to say, we are very disappointed. I knew that there was going to be construction noise from the DVC property. I had no idea that there was going to be work done on Jambo House, right below and above our balcony.

Anyone planning on staying soon and looking over the Sunset Savannah should be prepared to not have a real savanna view, or a quiet stay.

Have you asked to be moved? Considering all the noise, etc. I would assume they would grant your request. Good luck!

Oh I am so sorry this happened to you. If it were me, I'd be asking to be moved to a different location or even a different resort. That smell and lack of animals on the savanah (the whole reason to have that view) would really upset me. You are paying either vast amounts of money or points for that villa, make them find you something better.

I really hope this gets worked out and that you have a nice rest of the vacation. Again, I am just so bummed for you.

oh, that's so disappointing -we will be there soon. Are they full that they can't move you? That's my big fear!

I bet they are they didn't offer you a reduced rate either!

I was talking to my dad the other day and said isn't it funny when Disney is doing construction at their resorts that they don't reduce their rates. He mentioned it because I am staying at CBR and their main pool is under renovation. I never really gave it much thought until he mentioned it.

That is so true! I planned a last minute trip for April and CBR and ASMU were the ones available for my dates. I love CBR but thought why should I pay for amenities that aren't even being offered? I chose ASMU (loved it) and will stay at CBR post pool opening.

Disney has supply and demand on their side. They don't have to offer discounts for refurb inconveniences because they will fill up those resorts anyway.

I do know that early on with this they bumped some people to higher end rooms (Poly, SSR one bedrooms) but that has long since ended.

After my dad made that comment, it really started bugging me!!! We all stayed at CBR this past December and the construction had just started. It didn't bother us that much because we were only there for a long weekend and spent most of our time in the parks. We were in Trinidad North and it bugged my dad that we had to walk through a parking lot to get to Old Port Royale!! To me, that wasn't that big of a deal, but my parents are in their 70's and my mom uses a rollator (sp) so it was a little harder for her.

So when my DS and DIL and my DD15 and I booked our summer trip, I didn't think that much about the pool construction because we don't use the main pool. When I mentioned to my dad that we had planned our trip, he asked where we were staying and I said CBR of course. He said why would you stay there with all that construction!! I said to me it wasn't that bad and we would probably be staying in Aruba so we wouldn't notice it that much. He said you will notice it every time you walk over the bridge to go to the food court!! He wasn't giving me a break!! Then he hits me with the I bet they didn't reduce your room rate did they!! I said they don't have to because they know they will fill the resort. He said, that's right - so you should have just stayed somewhere else. Now my DH joins in and just starts agreeing with my dad. Then my son starts in and asks, yeah, why are we staying there!!! I told him to feel free to look into changing resorts, but he never did so we are staying there and I'm not really worried about it - just a little bugged when I think about how they maybe should have lowed their rates to compensate for the inconvenience. But then again, it's people like me who stay there anyways proving the point that they don't have to!!
