This is a ride we have never done. What can you tell me about it? I recall it being very high off the ground. Has anyone who has issues with heights had a problem with this ride?

THanks,
Sharon:)

First off, I'm not scared of heights. It is a neat ride b/c you are so far off the ground. It doesn't go that fast. My 3 yr old DD loves it. I suggest going first thing in the morning, b/c loading times are looooooong.

You do have to take an elevator up-I could see where someone who has issues with heights might not like this. It's also kinda deceiving-I generally don't do well going round and round but I thought it looked pretty tame. It actually goes in a tight circle and after about the 4th time around I had to look at my feet to keep from getting queasy:crazy: Of course, my DD loved it:rolleyes: so I am afraid I may have to ride it again since DH gets motion sickness just watching most rides:rolleyes:

I do not think that the height would be much of a problem. You take an elevator to the actual ride and then it goes very slow. All my kids have ridden it b4 the ago of 3 an my youngest will be riding it on our next trip.

i have minor height issues, but looking at it, i thought - hey that doesn't look so bad.

let me tell you - that thing is deceptively fast. it doesn't look like it, but it is. :p when i got up there i spent the whole time cowering in my orbiter, not moving it higher than the lowest height and waiting for it to be over. i felt like i was going to fall out the whole time!

i'm not interested in doing it again, though i love rides like splash mountain, rnrc, and tower of terror.

I really like Astro Orbiter, but when I rode it at night, I felt sick on it. Its such a tight circle you go around and the lights didn't help much :earseek:
But I thorougly enjoyed it during the day. MAYBE I'll try it again at night and just not eat that turkey leg beforehand.

I was on this ride last 4th of July during the fireworks and it was so cooooll!!!

I can ride any ride - but this ride scared me:eek: It is fast, not when you are looking at it but when you are on it . I rode it at night too, which made it worse, I think. I felt like I was going ot crash into the planets, and I was screaming...........I am 40! My DH was on the bottom laughing so hard that every time I passed him I heard his laugh. I have offically added this ride to the things that scare me.

This ride scared me more than any other I've ever been on. Yes, I have a little problem with heights (although I loved the old Skyway ride). What scared me even more though was that the car seemed to tip and wobble, like it couldn't really handle the weight. But I thank Astro Orbiter for getting me to ride Space Mountain. After that ride, DH suggested we go on SM, and I agreed, saying "Nothing can be scarier than that was!" And I was right! To me, its the scariest ride I've ever encountered at WDW, worse than TOT or SM.

I don' think you realize how high or how fast it is until you go on it. I'm still more scared of the coasters & Alien Encounter though. For the record I'm scared of heights too.

Another vote for fastness here. I can ride anything. I mean anything! I love teacups and all the roller coasters, etc. Well, DH was in the car in front videoing me and DS4 who were in the car behind. We have a hilarious video of DH saying "Move your car up and down!" And me saying "oh man - is this ride making you sick?" and DS4 and DH both saying at the same time "YES!" I had to look down at my feet and stay perfectly still. This was in the daylight after a pretty long wait.

We always skipped it because of the wait. Now that we have finally rode it - we won't be riding again. ugh.

I NEVER get sick on rides...I have an iron stomach, but this even made me a bit queasy. The circle has a smaller diameter so you spin faster than Dumbo...bleach! As others have said, it is a slow loading ride with not much bang for the buck in regards to wait time. We try to skip it. Hope that helps!

I agree that the speed can be deceiving and the height a problem for those who have that problem. But my daughter (now 7) and I have done it several times and enjoy it. The waits can be a problem so early or late is best. At night it is really cool.

It offers a neat view at night. It is not too bad, but it does travel in a pretty tight circle.
