We found out this year that my son has astigmatism in both eyes and slightly farsighted. I was wondering if this effects how he sees 3D. We were there last year before the glasses and he never gave much of an indication that he could see it.??? Yeah, yeah weird question...I know

Our daughter has the same 2 conditions as your son, and wears glasses. She definitely felt the 3D effects in the shows we saw.

I have an astigmatism in both eyes and have no problems with the 3D effects in any of the shows.

I have astigmatism and I get really bad head aches from 3D stuff. I can handle it for a short period of then and then wham! I know my depth perception is off as well - I think it is from the astigmatism. So maybe it has to do with the severity or the way it affects the eye.

I have astigmatism in both eyes and wear glasses. I really don't see much of 3d Effects. I have tried with and without glasses (someones suggestion). I can see it at little, but my eyes are definatley straining and get tired. Then I just give up.

I have an astigmatism & am very near sighted. I wear contacts & have no problems w/ the 3-d.

I have astigmatism and have not ever been able to watch a 3D movie in a movie theatre because the glasses they use. BUT, at Disney I can SEE the 3D effects because of the way their glasses are made. Thats why I love the Disney shows so much.

I have astigmatism and wear glasses I've been able to see the 3D effects but I find it hard having to wear the 3D glasses and my own it takes some time to adjust them just right but after that it was fine, just make sure that your son has his 3D glasses adjusted before the show starts so he won't miss andy of the show and he should be fine.

So true!!!

Because I don't have synched binocular vision (one bad eye with astigmatism and one good eye) I was never able to see the blue/red 3-D as a kid (like Eeyore's Tiara reported as well!).

The first time I was able to see 3-D was at Disneyland, Captain EO to be exact, in the 80's. I can't see any pictures in those 3-D poster things you stare at, but I can see 3-D Disney shows. Of course I have no way of knowing if what I see is as cool as what normal sighted people see, but I have always been grateful for Captain EO and Disney's innovations for allowing me to experience what others take for granted. May be silly to others but it's something important to me.

I have astigmatism, am VERY near sighted & have a heck of a time w/the 3D shows (Mickey's Philharmagic & Tough to be a Bug) or those "hidden pictures" that were popular in the 90s when I wear my contacts. With my glasses it's better, but only if I'm kind just staring & relaxing my eyes do they allow me to see the 3D stuff.

I have an astigmastism and am farsighted and have no problem at all with 3d shows. I have worn glasses since age 4 (35 now), and always been able to see 3D fine.

I have astigmatism as well, although I was lasered 8 years ago (doesn't take the astigmatism away) and I can see the 3D effects with good 3D glasses. But, I never could see the hologram things, where you look at a flat picture and something pops out.

Have astigmatism in both eyes and near-sighted. I wear bifocal contacts and had no problem seeing 3D. In the past, I wore contacts with no bifocal and also had no problem.
Good luck!!

Not a weird question at all...... I have a little story for you.

My son has cerebral palsy and had a brain bleed as an infant. He has had 3 eye operations to correct a severe case of strabismus (crossed eyes). His eyes are still not aligned properly and he does not have binocular vision. (He can't see out of both eyes at the same time)

He has astigmatism in both eyes and wears corrective lenses.

He fails EVERY SINGLE 3D test administered in the eye doctor's office.

On our first trip to WDW I avoided every 3D show because I didn't want him to be disappointed.

On our second trip we took our niece..... I didn't want HER to miss out on the 3D shows just because DS couldn't see it. So we took them to see Philharmagic. I explained to DS that he probably wouldn't be able to see the 3D part.... but he could still enjoy the show.

Well.... wouldn't you know..... he saw in 3D. I started screaming for DH who was sitting 3 chairs away from me...... I couldn't believe my son could see in 3D. I cried happy tears. I didn't watch the show..... I only watched my son reaching up for the 3D objects...... and I have to say..... watching him was the best show of all.

That is such a great story:hug: - I agree Disney Magic all the way!
Thank yall for answering. After reading all the diffrences I questioned DS and I think he saw some 3D at Disney. I am not sure he saw it in regular movie theatres ie:Meet the Robinsons ect..I didn't know there were so many diffrent types of 3D!!:)

We had our sons eyes checked again by a doc that is much better at explaining things. I asked him if my son can see 3D and he said Most types as long as he sits in the middle and wears his regular glasses under 3D glasses. He actually made a pair of glasses- out of lenses in his drawer- that I could put on that would show me how DS sees without glasses. I was exhausted just trying to see - just out of focus....It was a good visit.
