I am hoping that someone can offer me advice. I am soo frustrated and confused and scared...
A few years ago I started with pain soreness and achiness in my hands, fingers, arms and shoulders. It felt like my muscles as well as my bones. Xrays showed nothing, blood work was negative for RA, ANA was high which suggested lupus, but rheumatologist said carpel tunnel? Even though I dont have numbness or tingling. Neurologist says arthritis related.
A year later, still having pain and sometims progressing to my whole body. Now I get sent for bone scan. Bone scan shows potential hypertrophic pulmonary ostoearthropathy in my legs. So I go for Xrays and LFt since HOA can be caused by lung disease such as cancer, COPD, cystic fibrosis, etc, or heart disease, and since i have had SOB lately with simple walking or up/down stairs and I am a smoker for at least 15 years. I did quit once for 6 years.
So LTF are back and I ask are they ok and the recept. says well there is something with your lungs due to smoking. Something with obstruction ... but the dr will tell you about that. The xrays show that likelihood of HPOA is slim since i only have perosteal reaction on one tibia. But that based on previous bone scan should get a chest xray. It also says that whatever showed on the xray could be due to a stress injury and clinical correlation to my bone scan should be done to further evaluate. I should also have another xray in two weeks to re-evaluate.
My understanding is with HPOA that is caused by some other underlying disease which causes overgrowth of the bone. And that patients complain of pain in the hands, wrists and shoulders.
My allergies and chronic sinusitis have also increased 10 fold in the last few years and have recently had SOB. My other doc thinks that is due to allergies and mold exposure, and put me on Singular which is helping a bit.
So can my allergies be causing asthma or COPD? How do I know which I have. if the report said obstructive im taking that to mean COPD? Also if I have either, this seems to be related to the HPOA hence the pain im having???
Has anyone had any of these symptoms and COPD or asthma. I'm so confused. And want to know what questions I should ask my dr tomorrow?
BTW I am only 39 yrs old.
Sorry so long. Any advice or experience would be helpful. Thanks for reading.
