We're making our second trip to WDW in June, and it will be our first stay as a family in the park. We're booked at the ASSP from 6/25-7/1, but I was hoping to get a bit of feedback. Last summer we stayed offsite at the Best Western on I-Drive. Not a 5* hotel, but it was a clean place to go to sleep at night. I am sure the room size will be the same, but what are some experiences people have had at ASSP?? I've been reading mixed reviews on the hotel, and I know that everyone has their own opinions, but is it generally a good hotel?

My son will turn 6 just before we leave, and he chose the sports hotel. I was going to try to request the football building if possible....good choice??

Thanks for any insight! :earsgirl:

We stayed there in May 2003, and are going back in a few weeks. We loved it! The themes aren't a huge deal to us (although DH is a total sports nut), the price is great, we never waited long for a bus- also if the resorts are sharing buses, Sports picks up and drops off first, not a huge deal, but nice with tired little ones. We were in the Baseball building, first floor, facing the parking lot, it was quiet. We have requested a similar room for this trip as our little ones aren't on big pools. We didn't eat at the food court (as we had our own car) but this trip we'll try it out- we enjoyed the food court at AKL on our last trip, hoping it is similar in quality. There are several areas that are fun for little ones to play in- there's a huge foot ball field that DS liked. The pools were nice, we didn't get in the main pool, just Goofy's baseball pool. There is a FAQ thread for this resort, this will have tons of info! :goodvibes

I have stayed at ASSP 3 times. I was also with all adults and we really just slept and showered in the rooms. We had no problems at all during any of our stays. We did enjoy the food court on the run to the parks and to refill our mugs. I also enjoyed after a long day at the parks or DD being the first to get dropped off. I stayed in the area that was past Football and it was a long walk to the buses and food court, I would avoided it now as a mom. Have a great trip!

Thanks, Melissa. We're excited to be staying in the park and the All Stars theming seemed to make it a no brainer choice. My son is a sports fanatic, so he's extra excited that we are staying at "the giant football helmet hotel".

I figure anything has to be better than the Best Western. It was clean, and for the price and time we spent there wasn't a horrible place, but it wasn't Disney. We had a room facing the Interstate, so a little pool noise and even a parking lot view aren't a bad thing!

Thanks for the directions to the dedicated thread, I will check it out now! :goodvibes

I stayed there last week.We loved it. The only thing I would change-we stayed in preferred. It was nice to be close to the foodcourt but the pool was very loud at night.Lots of teenagers until midnight. It made it hard for my kids to go to sleep(DS9,DS7,DD6,DD1).Other than that we loved it. :cheer2:

I'm glad to hear that other people enjoy the hotel. I was excited about it until I read some pretty negative reviews. I know everyone views things differently, but some of the reviews made me doubt our choice. Now I'm definitely feeling better and cannot WAIT to leave....only errr....2 months and 10 days to go! :earboy2:

We absolutely love AS Sports...the bus service is excellent, plenty of parking, food in food court is pretty good, pools and laundry rooms are great.

We have stayed dozens of times, and will stay again.

I stayed at the All-Stars Sports for the first time during my October vacation. I wrote about it in my trip report: click here (I began describing my resort room on Page 3). I have links to my photos of the room in that trip report. I really enjoyed my brief stay there and won't hesitate to stay there again. (I have stayed in 18 of the Disney resorts so far.)

You will have a great time at All Star Sports! Just relax and soak up the disney magic and you will never stay off site again.

Thanks for all the replies, you guys are great!!

I was fortunate as a child in that my grandparents lived in Ocala and my mom was a travel agent. We would almost always stay onsite (my grandmother particularly loved the Contemporary castle view rooms), which was quite a treat. Now that I have my own family, I realize that a lot goes into planning a Disney trip and making it the best possible trip for them. The imput of Disney regulars makes this a lot easier and I am so relieved that there are so many positive reviews. With all this second guessing I am doing, I am driving everyone nuts at home, but they're just as ready to leave as I am.

Thanks again!! :flower:

My family is also staying at ASSP - 1st trip for kids to WDW & 1st stay on site for all of us. I thought i would choose the resort for my husband & kids, but since then have been leery because of some negative things i have been reading. I feel much better now!! Thanks again posters.

I have stayed at the all star sports plenty of times and i will be staying there again at the end of july! we love it ! it is perfect for children and we love the theming!..we usually stay at the surf building just b/c they are the closest to everything but all the buildings are great!...its a great price !...you will love it esp. if you son likes sports he will love it too! Have fun! :cool1: :earsboy:

We stayed at All STar Sports back in 1998-in the football section as well and we had a great stay. The food court and buses were close by, as well as the pool. The theming was fun for us as well.
