My Mother has a problem with her legs she can't stand still for a long time so it was recommended to us we go to guest services and get An Assistance Card. The First time we went when she had her leg problem we needed to shoe a CM at Guest Services a not from her doctor. Then the second time we had a note and the CM said" We can not look at this Note" but she gave us the Assistance Card?

I was wondering if you still need a doctors note to get an assistance card?

you have never actually needed a letter from the doctor to get a Guest Assistance Card, so the first CM was not correct.

She does need to be able to explain her needs to the CM in Guest Relations. In most lines for attractions, you are not actually standing still, but are moving forward (sometimes slowly) most of the time. There are also some attractions (mostly shows or attractions which load 'batches' of large numbers of people at a time. Standing is required while waiting for the next 'batch' of people to load and there are not always chairs/benches available. If there are and they are filled when you arrive, having a GAC will not get you a seat.
For reasons like that, CMs recommend people with stamina concerns like standing use a wheelchair or ECV. I have also seen people with canes that have a small seat attached. If you do a google search for "cane seat", you will find quite a few.

There is more information about GACs in the disABILITIES FAQs thread near the top of this board.

Hi and :welcome: to disABILITIES!

The official recommendation for people with mobility and/or stamina problems is to rent a wheelchair or ECV. The Guest Assistance Card is intended for people with "invisible" disabilities other than mobility or stamina. It is not intended to allow a person to bypass lines, it is te let the CM at an attraction know what is necessary to allow the person to enjoy the attraction (as close as possible) as if they did not have the disability.

There is a full discussion of the GAC on Page 6 in the disABILITIES Forum FAQs, which you can get to using the link in my signature.
