I have a reservation at GF and thought hard and long about switching resorts because of the construction. DW doesn't think the construction will be all that bad but I am paying a lot of money to stay at GF. I don't want to stay in a construction zone. I've stayed there when it wasn't under construction. It's a great resort. If, after we check in and find out the construction is just too disruptive or find that it takes away from the abience of the GF, how good are they in working with guests to relocate them to a different resort?

Which view do you have? If you have MK or garden view, it should not be near the construction. Some of the water views in Big Pine Key would face the construction.

The construction is near the spa:

I have read on these boards that people who were unhappy with their resort choice (for whatever reason) have been able to switch if rooms were available elsewhere. Having said that, I'm not willing to take that chance with the GF construction, so we're staying elsewhere for now. I guess it depends on how much you think it will bother you and if you are willing to deal with an unplanned move. For my family, the walls around the feature pool (and reports of jackhammer noises) are enough to keep us away for the time being. I love the GF, but it's too much $$$ for me to spend if we don't get the quiet, relaxed feeling we are used to having when we stay there...:confused3

We spend a whole week beginning May the 3 and we did not hear any noise.

We kind of feel exactly as you do. We decided for our next trip (June 2013) we're going to stay at the Yacht Club. We really wanted to stay at the GF, but after seeing pics of the pool w/ the walls up, we decided against it. It's ALOT of money...so for that reason, we decided we didn't want to sit at the pool w/ the walls staring at us. Some people may feel differently, that's fine.. this is our family's choice.

I'd rather wait and go back again in the future. We've never stayed at the YC, so I'm kind of excited to see how staying in an Epcot resort will be! (looking forward to the walk to Epcot!) :bitelip:
