Hi!

I was wondering...

Does DCL divide the ship into specific sections of staterooms for each Host, where the section never changes from cruise to cruise even if the Hosts rotates or change?

Or are the specific blocks changed for each cruise?

Is there a way to find out if one Host handles certain staterooms?

Good question. I'd be interested to see if anyone knows the answer.

Our first cruise on the fantasy last October, we had stateroom 5030. We loved our stateroom and attendant Giselle.

We booked the same stateroom, 5030 and 5032 for our cruise a couple weeks ago on the fantasy. We were hoping that Giselle would be our attendant again.

She wasn’t. She had taken her 2 month leave in between our 2 cruises, and had been assigned the cabins down the hall from us when she came back. We had a new attendant, and only saw Giselle in the halls.

Our new attendant told us he had 14 cabins to take care of on each cruise.

I'd be surprised if it never changes. What if one section didn't get booked? The one host woud be servicing fewer than others. I suspect that they assign based on numbers of staterooms needed to be serviced, not on static sections. Then add changing leaves/rotations into the mix.

On one of our cruises, our stateroom host said she had 12 staterooms. I wonder if it's different in the Magic/Wonder than the Dream/Fantasy.

I can imagine there's a lot of rotation or changes happening between the Hosts. In each ship we tend to book the same location and sometimes the same stateroom if it's available. In all those cruise we've taken, we've only had the same Host once. Now that I think about it, the two cruises were within 6 months so I think they may keep the same section until they take their break.

Perhaps. But since it's likely that DCL sells out, I would think it would be easier to keep the block of staterooms as they are and assign the Host accordingly.

It may be the type of room rather than the ship. A standard inside with one bathroom sleeping a max of three will take less time than a deluxe family that has the split bath and sleeps 5.

Our host told us they change rooms each cruise. Our favorite host we had was on deck 2. I saw him working deck 8 on my next cruise.

Yes, I would agree. It's likely based on a lot of other variables.

So it makes more sense that there are specific sections for ease of assigning.

Did he mention if the sections of staterooms changes as well?

So if he is assigned your room again, will he be servicing the same staterooms as he did before?

Perhaps we won't know for sure, but we could possibly piece together what Hosts have been mentioning to figure out if DCL does divide the ship into sections of staterooms Or it varies depending on if the staterooms are booked or not.

My stateroom host (when we had her twice) said that she had from stateroom A to stateroom B on both cruises. But I didn't ask her any further. At that point, I assumed they were specific blocks.

Perhaps if someone is going on a cruise soon, they could ask their stateroom host.

This isn’t correct. Our favorite attendant worked on the same set of cabins (14) until her 2 month break. Then got the set of cabins down the hall when she got back. She said she would have them until her next break after 6 months of work.
