Family (DH, DD's 8 & 9 and DS 4) going May 18-24. Have already booked POR but since I've found all these great sites & discussions re:codes I'm indecisive about should we get 2 connecting rooms at an AS or stay at POR. The rooms appear pretty small at POR. This will be our first on site trip (only 2nd ever) & it's all about the kids. Need advice from you experienced Disney visitors. My main questions are re: transportation & the pools. Not so much worried about the dining situation. Kids aren't picky. Would love input on where you guys would pick if you could do either? Thanks!

We stayed at ASMo last time, and I just booked 2 (HOPEFULLY) connecting rooms there for 8 nights in July. We have 3 kids also, and the extra $15 per night for the trundle made AS a better choice. We found the bus system there to be really good. We were in the Mighty Ducks building, and in the AM it was easier to go to the bus stop at the resort next door. This time, I requested Dalmations or Toy Story. We were looking at the POR, also, but opted for the AS for the 4 year old. Got a really good rate with AAA, too! $1508 for 2 rooms for 8 nights.

I think you will find the AS to be better suiting for you. this way you would have 2 bathroom s and more room instead of all of you in one room. Plus your kids will LOVE the AS the themeing is done wonderfully. And I know they would love it.

i have a direct comparison, in october we spent 4 nites at ASM and 6 nites at POR. we found all stars to be a bit less than we expect from a resort. no full service dining, no water slide for the children, very small rooms, a small poolside bar instead of a lounge. it had a "roadside motel" feel to it. we will not stay there again. on the other hand riverside feels very much like you have "gotten away". also a very good full service restaurant."boatwrights", a very nice lounge with live entertainment, a great main pool area with a good waterslide and plenty of room both in and out of the water and a large pool bar that is outside and has plenty of seating and also serves limited food, hot dogs, etc. when you walk through all stars you are constantly dodging others, when you walk around riverside you are admiring the wooded and secluded atmosphere. with codes and such we paid $40. a nite more for riverside and felt it was worth 4 time that. we are staying there for our full visit this year

I agree completely with the above poster. I've stayed at POR several times, and tried AS once as a matter of comparison. No comparison-give me the POR!
