Has anyone had issues at this resort??? I was reading on Travelocity and noticed a few recent reviews that had me in shock! Here they are:

Jul 19, 2007

I would have to say that for the money it was exceptable. Unfortunately housekeeping sucked, they never replaced new toliet paper, filled empty kleenix boxes, emptied the trash, emptied the ice bucket, cleaned the toliet, and we figured out why. They were to busy going through our luggage and stole my daughters $300 and my nieces $170 IPODs! My daughter had hers hidden in between her clothes and my niece had hers in a zipped carryon at the bottom. From what I was told after the first 2 days of our stay was that they were "training" new housekeeping. We didn't know they were missing until we got home and emptied everything out. They never used them on the trip just on the way down on the plane. Needless to say it is under investigation.
I think maybe housekeeping should be screened a little better.
Other than that incident and waiting 40 minutes one night for a bus to Downtown Disney, I have no other complaints.

Jul 28, 2007

I went to Disney with a group of 40 for a 10 day. We had 10 rooms and booked the room in October of 2006. They gave us rooms at the very back of the property near a forest filled with animals that made noise all night. The smaller children were terrified by the sounds and had difficulty sleeping. We had 4 of the rooms broken into with personal posessions stolen. We reported the theft to Management and still suffered additional break-ins the very next day. The Sheriff Dept. had to be called to get a report filed. The ice machine did not work on the floor. Housekeeping would pick up towel but, never left any new towels. We had to go the the front desk every day to pick up towels. We thought staying on the property would be easier. I disagree. The bus drivers were rude. One driver drove off while we were running to the bus in the middle of the street waving at her, the worst part is, the bus was virtually empty and she had the nerve to wave at us, as she passed us by.

Please I would love to hear others....:confused3

I have worked in the hotel business for 20 years plus. From line staff, to now the last ten years as senior management. It gets so frustrating that everyone just assumes “housekeeping stole my stuff”. The rate of theft from hotel employees is actually very low. Single percentage low. Most common theft is from wait/bar staff in regards to tips and ringing up orders and not putting them through.

Many times guests do not lock their door properly and items are stolen by other guests. Also many many times guest lose their item in another location, but assume it never left the room, and in turn blame housekeeping for it.

Not saying there are not dishonest employees. But there is also a wall safe and also they have to provide you with a safety deposit box, if asked. So there are clear cut ways to avoid the problem, if you take accountability yourself.

I'm encouraging anyone who has stayed at the All Star Music and never has had anything stolen, hasn't had a room being broken into, hasn't had a rude animal making too much noise at night (how can you tell an animal that you want to sleep?) to post. I'm first.

I've stayed at ASMu and have had no problems with either theft or housekeeping. The comments about the woods and the noisy animals I just think are funny!

I'm third.:thumbsup2

All my stays at All Star Music have been steller.
I am returning next month for my 6th there since 2001.

I have always felt Disney's value resorts are a total bargain. When I stay at value resort at Disney I feel I am getting way more than my money's worth.
The grounds , the food court, gift shop ,lobby and my rooms have always been very clean and well maintained.
When I rise early in the morning there are always groundskeepers working on the landscape.
The pools have always been clean with sparkling water. (We do have a large heated in ground pool at home so I know about pool maintence and water clarity)
The main pool is huge and always has plenty of lounges and chairs to sit in and relax by the pool.

The staff has always been very friendly.

Sammie posted this on the thread Housekeeping theft at Saratoga Springs :

http://disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1548475&page=5

Lets look at this from what we know. Saying the OP did have these things stolen, even she does not know for sure who took them. Could be Disney staff, could not be. All we know is her stuff was missing. As some said, someone could have slipped in while the room was being cleaned.

Where is that compassion you speak of for those that are being accussed of being guilty with no way to speak for themselves. I think it was wise of the OP to share what happen to let others know to be careful in any hotel, I think it was wrong to accuse SSR of being an unsafe place to stay due to housekeeping.

I am amazed at the number of people who immediately believe anything that is shared on these forums. At times when you see someone post a horror story and they only have one or two posts prior to that,at times they are either disgruntled or a fired Disney employee or even someone that works for Universal.

Crime happens every day at Disney, and the majority of it is not Disney staff. Anyone is naive to think otherwise and naive to think everyone you read is the entire story.

I don't think the OP was chatised, it is just that when you travel if you leave things in a room that many people have access to, even criminals you run the risk of having it stolen. I think the comments were more to educate others.

Too many people go to Disney with pixie dust in their eyes and blind that it is still the real world with real people and not all of them are nice.

Home owners insurance should cover it and hopefully she will find out who stole them.

To the OP:

Have fun planning your next Disney vacation!:wizard:

Well , not ASMu, but ASSp and ASMo, never had anything stolen and the noisy nighttime animal was my Baby Brother who fell asleep on the sun bed by the pool and rolled in at 2am when he woke up in the dark :lmao:

I've never stayed there but neither am I concerned for our first stay in a week's time. We will make sure all our valuables are locked away in the safe (as we always do) and concentrate on enjoying our vacation.

Im glad to hear these reports cause like many other we are staying at ASMu very soon! Im extremely excited about this and cant wait to check in! I am not worried about my valuables (or lack there of) during my trip, I was simply seeing if there was anyone else out there within the last month that has had an issue considering these were within that last month one involving police action.

We have stayed in Allstars Movies & Music and never had any problems with any type of thefts or items being rummaged through. Mind you it has been a few years since we have stayed in an Allstars resort. I can assure you we would not hesitate to book again at either one of these resorts.

To the OP I hope you enjoy your next visit to WDW no matter where you decide to stay.

Fourth.

Frankly, those reviews make me question the reviewer and not the property. I see far too many whiny reviews online (they were scared of the animals in the forest??? I have seen deer and armadillo onsite - how noisy are they? were there wolves howling outside the door? )

These type of drama filled posts serve no purpose to me.

I practically live in hotels - at least 300 days a year. I have NEVER had anything 'stolen'. I use common sense and lock up items if required. But I HAVE heard many stories of 'stolen' items reappearing later. I agree with the poster who said that instances of true theft are low, and most often it is someone who has misplaced an item, panics, and claims theft.

I also see guest room doors propped open almost every day, which I then close and/or report to someone. Often there is actually a guest inside the room, or one comes back to the room while I am in the hallway. Anyone who leaves their door propped open while they go to get ice, or to go to a family member's room down the hall is not displaying responsibility.

We haven't heard of anything like this going on or seen any evidence that our clothes were disturbed.

I don't care if Gahndi and the Pope were cleaning the room we ALWAYS keep our suitcase locked and our valuables locked in the safe. I do wish the room safes were larger.

Securing your valuables is your best defense against thieves. Most theivery like this are acts of opportunity.

I agree...I ignore those one-sided reviews.

In Jan 2006, we stayed at AKL and we couldn't find DS's Gameboy Advance which was in a case with all his games (at least 15 games). The thing is, when we notided it, we had been there several days andwe couldn't figure out when we had last seen it. Was it "taken" from our room. It is possible it was but we didn't know for sure. We visited the front desk, called housekeeping. Even checked with the airline and airport. No luck in finding it.

I've stayed at All Star Music twice and Movies once, I have never had any problems. Like everyone else, I exercise reasonable caution. I never take anything too valuable on vacation and what I do have is locked in the safe. I also take the safe key with me when I leave the room.

I am extremely neat, borderline OCD, and I certainly would have noticed if someone went though my things.

It does annoy me to see housekeeping leaving the doors wide open while they clean which is why I keep my stuff taken care of. Anyone walking by could easily come in and grab something. Don't leave your stuff laying around. Why tempt fate:confused3

I must have missed the forest during my visits. I was in the back of the property before and there were a few trees between the buildings and the parking lot. I did see several bunnies but they must have gone to bed early cause I never heard them:lmao:

I just booked a solo stay at Music for December and while I will be cautious, I certainly won't be scared or let it ruin my vacation.

We'll be @ ASMu Sept 15-21 and I have no worries! We've never stayed @ Music before but have stayed @ Pop and other on-site resorts with no problems at all! I feel safer on-property than off!

Add me to the list of those who've stayed at ASMu and not been robbed!

I think the poster who suggested that we non-victims post makes a very valid point -- people who are angry or unsatisfied tend to make it known all the time. People who are satisfied or pleased don't always let others know. You have to think of the ratios... even 100 bad reviews are nothing when you think of the tens of thousands of people who've stayed there over the years. And we're not even talking about 100 -- only a handfull.

I read those reviews, and I can't imagine why anyone would ever leave anything valuable (and sellable!) anywhere it could be taken. When we leave the room, our iPods, my laptop, cameras (if we're not bringing them along), etc. all go right into the safe. It's not worth taking the chance.

Go, have a good time, be smart (use the safe for valuables), and don't let other people's experiences ruin your vacation.

There was a similar thread about SSR and I will say the same thing here...be smart when you travel!!!!

Do not leave belongings in unlocked luggage and use in-rooms safes when they are provided. We always pack combination luggage tags in our suitcases and as soon as we arrive at our room, we lock our suitcases and continue to lock them anytime we leave the room.

There are many people that can access your room while you are away. Hotel staff and people looking for an opportunity to steal and who lurk around hotels just waiting for someone to not lock their door properly or waiting for housekeeping to prop a door open then leave to go down the hall for a minute to get supplies....leaving your room and your belongings open to the world.

I'm sorry anyone has experienced this and I hope we never do, but locking your luggage and using safes is the best bet.

We stay at All Star's Music Resort most of the time, when we go to Disney, I find Housekeeping and staff very nice and they do a really good job of keeping us happy and maintaining the grounds.
I have never had any thing taken from our room, but I must say we don't leave out any thing that we value. We put our computer away in a suitcase as well as my purse, GS gameboy.
We put charge cards and money and lock them in the safe.

I'm sure that things can be taken without someone knowing about it for a few days since your so busy going to Disney.
I would say, take time to put things away or if you really value them take them to the front desk. Valuables should be put away.

I can't imagine why someone would lie about having something taken from their room if it wasn't true, and for those that have had things taken I really feel sorry for you, as you should be able to feel that you can leave stuff out in your room, but I just never take the chance.

Dishonest employees work every where, but I would think that if housekeeping staff had gotten turned in for something missing out of guest's room and they were turned in a few times, like say just once a week, they wouldn't be working at Disney very long.
As I would think that Disney staff would start watching that employee.
They do have to make a report.
I just don’t think it happens that much.

I do feel that the people that had stuff taken and wrote that it happen, just want us to know that it can happen at Disney, and to warn you to lock up your valuables.

Now as for the noise I really can’t say much about this as I sleep with the tv on as I can‘t sleep without TV noise.
I would love to to see the animals in the forest, but I seem to only find that ducks love me, they are the only thing that come to my room for a visit.

We just returned from staying one night at ASMU and the stay was short but wonderful. Room was clean and quiet...we were in the Calypso on the back side. We stay there because we wanted to check it out for an extended family gathering next year possibly booking some family suites.

However, I had a memory lapse Monday morning as we were packing up to check out and left my ipod charging on the back wall by the bathroom along with my daughter's engraved shuffle that my dh had been using.
I left them on the ground behind the bed charging...just forgot them and when I did remember and went back, the room was already cleaned and no ipods. I reported it to the front desk and actually went back to the room and the staff and I looked through the room. We appreciate the effort the maintanence CM put into contacting the building manager and the supervisor to talk with us. He just happen to be fixing something in the next room and stayed with us until the manager came. For all we know, they could have been gathered up in the bedding and be washing in the laundry as I type. It was my fault for leaving it and it hasn't spoiled the memories of our trip.

As my dh says, they can be replaced eventually but the memories we have of this time we had together is what we will remember. To tell you the truth, when I think about how I should be loading my ipod with my powerpoints for school, all I can think about is the Disney CMs that made our anniversary trip so special, giving my pins away to the children we met on the buses and the boats, and all the special moments my dh and I had around wdw...like the photopass cm that told my dh to kiss me and he did...my dh is a very private person and while he may sneak kisses in public, to kiss me in front of the photographer and all the people waiting was very special.

There are certain precautions you need to take when traveling and there is a safe in every room. I knew my laptop wouldn't fit in the safe and didn't want to chance any security cord being cut so I didn't bring it.

I can't imagine why someone would lie about having something taken from their room if it wasn't true

I suspect that is is not an intentional 'lie' as such, but rather that ones claims that something 'was stolen' and later finds it elsewhere. At that point they may be too embarassed to say anything. Most of us have misplaced an item only to find it later in an unusual location.

I have heard all kinds of stories, such as thousands of dollars in cash which people left in their pillow case in their hotel room, and the money subsequently was found in the laundry sorting area.
