Okay... DH and I are headed down to WDW to finish our disneymoon (a 4 day flu interupted us last time) this September.

We originally booked our week at ASMu, but I called today to "try" a new code, and I ended up with CBR for about $240 more for the week. So the sucker that I am - I booked it!

What is everyone's take - did I make a mistake? Should I rebook ASMu or Stay at CBR? Would love to hear from all you disers!

Thanks in advance!! :)

You made the right decision.

I've stayed at both. CBR is so tropical and I found it to be very relaxing. You'll feel like you're in the Caribbean for your honeymoon. :)

If you're not in a preferred section, then request Jamaica or Aruba.

CBR is worth it for the $240 extra. By my calculations the new pool should be open by the time you head down. Plus the resort does have that lush, tropical, Caribbean feel. I think you'll be happy you did.

Thank you both for your feedback ... I just needed a little re-assurance since DH wasn't 100% thrilled we were putting out more money ;)

CBR, hands down! I've stayed at both, and liked them both, but I would pick CBR for a honeymoon any day of the week. I love the tropical feel, the beaches, the quiet pools; it's just very relaxing!

We aren't normally value fans, but we just don't like the themeing at the CBR and thought their food court was probably the worse we have eaten at. We say do ASMu and use the extra $240 for something special for the two of you.

I have stayed at both resorts and have to say, I think you got a good deal. I love ASMU, its my favorite value. But CBR is lovely. It has the largest rooms of any of the mods, the grounds are gorgeous, we loved the food court (ate there most every day for either breakfast or lunch in a nine day stay) and to pay only $240 more for a whole week is pretty darn good!

Again, I love the values and I have stayed at all of them as well as all of the mods. If that $240 won't stress the budget or make you give up other things you are looking forward to, go for it.

The new pool is the icing on the cake! Oh wait, the fact its your honeymoon is the icing on the cake! Again, I love ASMU, but for a honeymoon, CBR all the way. The theming is lush tropical landscaping, you can see the high up fireworks of Illuminations from many places around the resort. I can't think of anything more romantic than grabbing a drink from the pool bar, snuggling up in a hammock and watching the fireworks. ASMU is great, but I just don't think it could be classified as anywhere near as romantic as CBR. However, I will say that as far as honeymoons go, I think it would be the best choice in the value category for that occasion!

Barbados is also a great location, very near the quiet pools in Martinque and Barbados, quiet and still close enough to the main areas. CBR has six quiet pools, all of which are very large and very nice.

Thanks for the tip!

Again - thank you all for your feedback :)

I chose AS Mu because I love it!!! It is so much fun and that's why I go to WDW anyway!! When I wake up at AS Mu and leave the room, the brightly colored huge decorations start me off having fun and set the tone for the rest of the day!!! I love it there. Just for reference, I'm 40 and have stayed at most of the WDW resorts ( I think I'm missing 4 now).

Have a great time no matter where you choose!!!!

I think I did almost the same thing you did. I had originally booked our family of 4 at the ASMo for our 1st family trip. However, the closer we got to our trip date, I panicked over the (small) room size, and really, the sheer mileage between the value resorts and the MK. I mean, Hello...the ASMo is LITERALLY the LAST resort on the map!!!! So at the last minute, I changed our rezzies to CBR with about the same difference $230.

We were thrilled with the CBR!!! Lovely resort, friendly CMs, scenic beauty, with a Caribbean feel. We stayed at Martinque #24. Short stroll to food court and shops. Tell hubby it's well worth it. Lots of families stay at the value resorts... lots of kids, lots of noise. We loved the quiet, slow-paced feel of the CBR. I don't think you'll regret 1 second of your decision. I know we didn't!

Things to take into consideration. CBR has no elevators and is a humongous resort so you may want to get a preferred location here. You could be stuck way out. It's also the oldest mod and the rooms are a bit bigger than AS Mu.

DH & I have enjoyed anniversary vacations at ASMU - It's so nice & quiet, has recently been refurbished and for the price was perfect for us. We're AP holders & love to run over for quick 3 day mini-vacations & ASMu was perfect for us. We stayed in a standard room in the Jazz Building & loved it. The food court was great - much better than the one @ POP. For us, I'd rather have the extra money to use towards dinners, tours and souveniers. But that's just me. Wherever you end up at - enjoy it - it's WDW!! :goodvibes

We actually were pretty exciting about trying out ASMu, but we figure the next time we go to WDW we will have a child - so we will get a chance to try the value resort then for sure . ;) (That's if I don't change my mind again before we go ....:lmao: )

I think you're on the right track. This is your honeymoon and I think CBR is just a much more romantic setting than ASMu. If walking up a flight of stairs is an issue, just request a ground floor. Plus you can get a nice king room. (although I believe it's extra).

I don't know how you can compare them. I stayed at both and CBR is by far the better place. ASMU is a minimally themed "resort" (barely above a regular hotel), CBR has beaches, boat rentals, a beautiful lake with bridge, more places to eat, a much nicer pool (with slide) etc. At CBR going for a night walk is an experience, at ASMU it is just a way to get to your room.

I like ASMu over CBR because CBR was way too big and the buses werent that good when we went so ASMu gets my vote

Agreed. I'd go with any resort over CBR. It's the oldest mod, has no elevators, if you get stuck out in Trinidad south, you might as well be in another resort because it's so far away from anything. They're putting in a new pool but it like putting new hub cabs on a gremlin.

Thanks for sending some pic's our way - the CBR looks beautiful! And we did request a king size bed (which is nice to know we definately have one vs. requested one, but might get 2 doubles).

Thanks again to all you have given their opinion :thumbsup2
