I'm looking for advice on getting from the All Star Movies Resort to the Orange County Convention Center on International Drive. Just wondering if anyone out there has done this and if they have any tips. I will have a car so I can drive myself with a $10.00 fee to park at the convention center. I could also take the public bus or a taxi. Thanks for your help! :flower:

I made the trip from Pop Century last year. The front desk gave me great directions. I paid the $10 parking fee and it was worth it knowing I could leave when I wanted without finding a cab or bus. The convention center is beautiful by the way.

Thanks for letting me know that driving there worked out good for you. Do you happen to remember about how long it took you to drive? I need to be there about 8:30am on a Monday morning, so with commuter traffic I was thinking maybe about 30 minutes? Thanks for your help! :D

Out of Movies, Turn left at light after exiting AllSTARs.
Merge onto Osceola Prkwy East
Left lane to I4 East
Merge I4 East
Right Exit 72 Beeline 528East to exit 1 International Drive or exit 2 Universal Blvd.

Either wil get you to the Convention Center area.

Give yourself at least 30 min, I4 is nuts.

Thanks Localdriver! I don't enjoy I-4 that's why I was looking into alternate modes of transportation. But it looks like driving will be my best bet. Too many transfers on Lynx. Thanks for the directions! :D

You can also drive straight up I-Drive if you like. I found that the lower section of it isn't too crazy with traffic northbound in the early morning, as most of the properties on it cater to tourists, and most of them are going toward WDW, and are not out and about in the morning hours like commuters. IME, the nasty part of the I-drive traffic really doesn't come until a block or two north of the OCCC.

The convention center is just a couple of blocks north of the intersection of I-Drive and the Beeline, one exit off of I-4 if you take that route. Don't make the mistake of trying to go the "back way" up Apopka-Vineland & Turkey Lake Rd., then across to I-Drive via Sand Lake Rd. You'll sit on the part of Sand Lake Rd. between I-4 and I-Drive forever, then have to battle your way down a congested section of I-Drive to the OCCC. I tried this last summer--bad idea. I-Drive northbound all the way is a longer route, but I found that it had less traffic than the other two routes, once you actually get out of WDW and onto I-Drive northbound. To avoid the worst I-Drive traffic, I make it a rule never to drive any further north on I-Drive than the OCCC, and I try to avoid the I-Drive/Sand Lake Rd. intersection at all costs.

Thanks NotUrsula! I'm familiar enough with that area to understand what you are saying about the "back way" and the traffic around Sand Lake/I-4/I-Drive. I think I may try taking I-Drive the whole way. I'm a back-roads kind of girl and I've never been that far south on I-drive before so I would like to try it and see something new. It looks like I just hop onto I-drive from Osceola Parkway- easy enough! :D

If your going to go backroads on the Ocesola Parkway to international drive be careful it looks easy but there is one hidden turn. take the Ocesola parkway out of disney over I-4 you will see the Gaylord palms hotel, turn Left at this intersection onto International drive south. You will then see a holiday inn turn left after the holiday in (not sure of street name just a small connector road) this road will take you out to 536 take a right on 536 and go straight across 535, after you are across 535 the road continue's onto 417 or you can turn left onto the real international drive, then the convention center is about 5 to 10 miles up. The west concourse will be on the left the east concourse, will be the awesome looking new building, on your right dircectly after going under 528.
