Has anyone taken a cab? I'm wondering if it would be cheaper to take a cab there and back or rent a car for the day. We are going for two weeks so I'd like to go pick up some things rather than pack them (diapers, water, ect.)

A cab to Wal-Mart would be a minimum of $40. You have less expensive alternatives.

www.netgrocer.com
www.wegoshop.com

These places will shop for you and deliver directly to your resort for quite a bit less than $40.

You could also pack those items in a cardboard box that meets airline guidelines, then send them as checked luggage, then dispose of the cardboard box.

You could also ship those items to your resort and they will be waiting when you arrive.

Our last trip, we just packed a case of water in a suitcase as checked luggage. It was brought to our room by DME, no hassle. The extra suitcase came in handy on the way home for dirty clothes and souvenirs.

Also, places like Office Depot will ship free for Advantage Members if the order is over $50. You could order a case of water from them and others have suggested also ordering a printer cartridge to meet the $50. Then toss the printer cartridge in your luggage for the trip home.

You might be able to have Wal-Mart.com or Target.com or ToysRUs.com ship diapers/formula directly to your resort.

Ooops, I see you are from Canada, some of the direct shipping from stores may not work.

However, if you are close to the US border, maybe shipping some stuff to yourself at the resort using a USPS Flat Rate Priority Mail box from a US Post Office might work.

That's another reason I'm hesitant to order from one of the delivery places as I'm not familiar with brands or sizes in Florida.
Would the $40 be both ways or one way?

Well on my first Disney trip about 10 years ago, I called a cab company and asked this very question. I was quoted $30 RT from All-Star Sports to Wal-Mart, 30 minutes waiting, and back to All-Star Sports. I haven't checked since, so I was guessing a minimum of $40.

I think I would rent a car for a day from the Dolphin or Car Care Center at Disney, that way you can take your time and have what you need for the trip.

However, if it was me, I would rather pack it in checked luggage, or have it shipped to myself to save precious vacation time. (I have done both and it worked beautifully).
