Asking to "sanitize" room

My DS Has a severe shellfish allergy. As a result, we have noted on our reservations that we need "clean" objects on our table (salt and pepper shakers, utensils, etc) to avoid cross contamination. My concern is now for the hotel room. Since Disney/Florida have a much higher consumption of shellfish then PA, am I unnaturally worried about cross contamination possibilities in the hotel room? For example, my son touched a bottle of soy sauce that had been contaminated and broke out in hives. I want him to feel safe and avoid drugs if possible in Disney. What are your experiences?

You can call and have your room " VIP" cleaned for no additional charge. This is a serve they do for people with allergies. My niece many allergies and one thing they also do is request new bedding. Disney has always done well with this, we get a new air filter put in our rooms as well.
When my niece eats out, they bring their own salt and pepper ( the kind you use on picnics) and bring her plastic forks and spoons. They then have the server remove the shakers from the table to reduce her contact. They also wipe down the table and her chair and place a disposable place mat where she will be eating.

These sound like great ideas! I honestly would not rely on a notation on the ADR to have everything at the table "cleaned" - at best they might bring out a fresh set of salt/pepper shakes from the supply shelf but not necessarily "cleaned." The table service restaurants are usually quite busy from open until close, the table will be cleared as usual after the prior diners (which likely includes a wipe down with a rag used on 20+ other tables already) and items returned to their designated location. But I'd take the responsibility of "cleaning" to remove lingering contaminants on myself - bring along Clorox or Lysol wipes, and ask the server to remove the condiments rack.

Another suggestion for meals is to try for off-hours if possible when it might not be quite a busy. Or maybe first meal of the day so the table hasn't had anyone eating at it for several hours.

And with regards to the question about the resort room - be specific in your request for the cleaning. State what surfaces you want wiped, vacuumed, bedding, etc. One person's idea of "clean" may not match yours, so getting specific will help that.

Enjoy your vacation!

I agree - be very specific about what you need.
If you just ask for "sanitized" , they do that to all rooms when they are cleaning, o they would have no idea what you want one that is different.

remember that people do eat while in lines and some seafood could be involved. that includes restrooms and chains in lines. granted grandson's is peanuts and he reacted while in line for a ride with nothing seen. I work in food and bev at a small park, I would consider anything on table to be contaminated, and that would include clean brought out if seafood is served. I know not to helpful but only you can get so much from staff when it comes to extra cleaning.
