Hi. My daughter and I will be in disneyland on 8/19 and 8/20.
We are staying at the hilton.
I'd love to know if...
is it true we can walk from the hilton to the park?
Does that shuttle go right to the park from the hilton?
Are there a lot of people actually out and about walking at night when the park closes back to their hotels, all the way down to by the hilton?
And is there someplace that is your favorite place to eat, either inside the park or outside on the way to the park?
Since we will get to the hilton around 1pm, we are going to want to get something to eat before we start our time enjoying disney. So I figure before we go inside we'll maybe walk up to the park and eat something along the way. This way we will be ready to totally enjoy looking around and getting on the rides before we want to eat again :)
Thanks so much for any help or tips you can give me.
And I guess I should put in, we haven't been to DL since 2001. And that was for only one day as we were travelling around southern cali on a family trip and sightseeing. Living in NY, our disney trips were twice a year to DW when our 3 kids were younger. Our last trip to DW was 3 yrs ago.
So we are both looking forward to hanging out with mickey :goodvibes
Thanks!

Hi,

You can actually get "walking" maps on Google...I did this and the walking directions for Anaheim Hilton to Disneyland are: Walking directions to 1313 S Harbor Blvd, Anaheim, CA 92802
1.6 mi – about 31 mins
Hilton Anaheim
777 Convention Way, Anaheim, CA 92802
1. Head west on W Convention Way toward West St
0.3 mi
2. Turn right at West St
0.5 mi
3. Turn left toward Downtown Dr
308 ft
4. Turn right toward Downtown Dr
371 ft
5. Turn left toward Downtown Dr
72 ft
6. Turn right at Downtown Dr
0.2 mi
7. Turn right to stay on Downtown Dr
0.4 mi
Disneyland
1313 S Harbor Blvd, Anaheim, CA 92802

In my opinion, kind of a long walk! I know that the Hilton is part of the ART shuttle; I would suggest doing that to save your energy and and feet since you will be doing plenty of walking while at the parks!

If you really want to try to walk, I would suggest walking "to" the parks; not at night. There are probably many people walking at night, but I really wouldn't suggest it. There used to be a way to go to the Timon Parking lot and catch the Tram that takes you to the Tram station located in DTD...I think I read a thread here recently about this and that it is still running. This would be a significant short cut, if it is still operating!

Are you stuck on staying at the Hilton? There are other hotels along Harbor that would be a more "do-able" walk. I've stayed at Candy Cane Inn with my mom and sister on a girls only trip. We really liked it a lot. CCI had their own shuttle that we primarily used at night (even though we could have walked (it was about an 8-10 minute walk). We walked to DL every morning. We usually ate something at the complimentary continental breakfast provided at the motel or at the LeBrea Bakery or the Jazz Kitchen Express in DTD. (these are 2 of my favorite places to eat in DTD)

Since you are planning on arriving mid-day, I would suggest getting a hold of a Disneyland park map and eating somewhere in DTD before entering the park or go to Carnation Cafe on Main St. for a meal. That way you can be in the "magic" and plan the rest of your day! ;)

DL/CA has changed a lot since your last visit. You will love it!

Have a great time!

In my opinion, the walk from the Hilton is a bit far. I've stayed at a hotel a similar distance and we walked it. Walking to the park didn't seem like much but walking back certainly felt like a lot after walking all day in the park.

We typically stay at the Anaheim Plaza... not as nice as the Hilton but it's close. We usually eat at Dennys across the street from DL entrance when we eat outside the park. Inside the park we like to eat at the Pizza Port in Tomorrowland; you get a good amount of food for the money there and there's some variety (not just pizza). I'm quite fond of the choc chip cookies there (though they are nearly $3)

I agree with everyone above me. We stayed at the Residence Inn which was .48mile walk.

We did a test walk the day before and it would of been way to long had we done that everyday. Considering that would have been walking to the park / for breaks and then back at the end of the day. So we used ART and were really happy with it.

The bus ran every 20 minutes or so and was rarely crowded.

Thank you all for your replies :lovestruc
We will take the ART.
We are looking so forward to hanging out in disneyland. Both my daughter and I have always loved all things to do with disney. So we'll have fun before she leaves for college.
Thanks again!
mary
