Asking for Prayers please

Just said a prayer for her! {{HUGS}} Please keep us posted! Prayers work miracles!!!

Your mom sounds like a wonderful person who's already been through a lot. I'm praying for her safety and comfort.

Today was not good. Mum was put on a Ventilator and now has a tube in her heart monitoring pressure, which so far seems good. They had some difficulties with her pressure plunging during the process of putting in the ventilator and got it back up with medications. They will see what happens when they try to decrease those, God willing, she will hold her own.

They are quite stumped. They feel there is another complication such as a Fungal Infection, Infectious 'Process' even Legionaires (sp) disease but cannot confirm diagnosis without a Lung Biopsy which right now she is just too unstable to have. So she remains on Prednisone and now some Broad Spectrum Antibiotics (Which I suggested yesterday..but was shot down on!)
They also did a Bronchial Wash (?) and obtained some samples which we will see starting tomorrow what if anything grows. She had this done approx 5 weeks ago with zero results.

Please keep her in your prayers. She is so very sick and it is breaking my heart to see her trying desperately to talk us while there are tubes everywhere. She wrote me a note before the Ventilator went in...It said "I love you All".......and we all love her.

I'm grateful to all of you...please know that

Didn't even look to see what I last wrote....so if I repeat myself...forgive me?

It's now Wednesday the 16th and my Mum is still in critical condition and on a respirator. The Amiodarone (Drug) has caused (They think) Pulmonary Fibrosis, which is a 'stiffening'?? of the lungs. At this point it doesn't seem to be reversing despite massive Prednisone. She also has an infection of the blood, they are still unsure of what type of infection, but they feel it is one from the Staph family. They now have her off of most of her sedatives, giving her some only occasionally when they need to do something to her or she appears uncomfortable.

SHe can nod yes or no and that's about it. Today they said they want a family meeting to discuss what's next (?) as she cannot spend her life on a ventilator and they are wondering if there is more wrong. I guess they will be suggesting the lung biopsy again, which I don't see her surviving. Her blood pressure is sky high but they don't seem to want to add more meds to lower at this point.

I've never seen her have such a fight in her life and my heart is breaking. They are amazed at her will and what she has endured this past week.

I wish we could turn to someone familiar with all of this for help, but they all seem stumped! As if they've never seen anything quite like it before.

I know prayers and her own will have brought her this far.....please...keep sending them up??

:(

Prayers for your dear mom and you on the way!

Oh, Minnie, this must be so difficult for you! I'm going right now to a prayer website and will spend some time there for your Mum. I usually remember people as a group late in the day - but I can feel your pain. I don't know what else to say - God Bless you & your Mum.

Prayers and good thoughts for your Mum and make sure you take care of yourself during this stressful time.

Just saw my previous update....

I had not even added the details of last Thursday night. We had all been at the hospital all day and left for a few hours only to be called back. My Mother was deteriorating quickly and they didn't expect her to make the night. Somewhere through the night her vitals started to pick up and in the wee hours she stabalized. They had her on medication to keep everything up, blood pressure etc...
She is off of that now but cannot get off the respirator. All else remains the same pretty much with the exception that now her blood pressure is throught the roof....without meds!! I just cannot understand why her lungs are not responding to all the steroids...

Sorry to be a pain with all my details...I guess some of the time I am thinking out loud??

For your speedy replies and prayers.
You are such a support to me right now, you cannot imagine.
