Friend is interested in the 2bedrooms villas at the Wilderness Lodge. What's the easiest/cheapest way to do this?
Are there any codes to use? They will be paying cash

your friend can rent points, it might be cheaper especially for a 2 bedroom, but try to rent at least well in advance, holidays go really fast, oct. -thru- dec 2003 are sold out for using points, unless someone has a ressies already

when does your friend want to go:jester:

Cheapest is to rent points. When is she planning to go?

Ahem... I beg to differ with my fellow DVCers, but the CHEAPEST way for your friend to stay at a DVC resort would be for him/her to talk a close friend/family member into buying points, and then sponging points off of them ;)... How close of a friend did you say you were???

Sorry couldn't resist!

i do have to agree with HookdonWDW, been there, done that, i probable will do it again:blush: :rotfl:

love these smilies:upsidedow

Rental is their best and cheapest bet. Disney is not really offering discount codes for rooms anymore.

Rental is best bet and given that VWL is a smaller resort, it's entirely possible that the 2 BR will have all been reserved unless she calls CRO well in advance or if she wants to rent, plans in advance. Disney has something like 4% of the rooms in CRO but who knows how they are allocated?

If they can go Sun-Fri, points renting will be the cheapest. If they are doing a long weekend, cash will likely be cheaper. If they can go off season, say Jan or Sept, the points are much less then as well. Assumiong they can't travel short notice, that means they're looking at around $1500-2000 for the 5 nights. Rack rate is around $2500 at it's lowest and I'd guess that $2000 plus tax is about the best they could do cash for 5 nights. If they can go short notice (1-2 months), they can look for a distress sale.

I hate to disagree with my fellow DVCers, but the cheapest way to get a two bedroom depends upon the season. For the fall, pay cash, they are offering 1/2 price on rooms thru Dec. 24, and sometimes two bedroom villas are available. At Christmas, renting points or buying a contract would be cheaper. In Nov and Dec there are some days where you can get a two bedroom for $280 a night, which is cheaper than renting points at $10 per point, isn't it? I ALWAYS check the 1-800 number for the cash prices before I use my points, especially on the weekends. Last summer my one bedroom rented for 60 pts per night, and $240 cash, so I rented out 120 pts, and used the money to pay cash--I made money on the deal.:p

I agree with Cruelladeville,
There are very often some very good discounts to be had on rooms through CRO both at DVC resorts and non DVC resorts. I do all different combos of things and sometimes I pay the pts at one DVC resort for the whole trip, other times I pay cash for the weekend nights and stay in the same DVC resort for the week nights on pts and sometimes I start or end a trip at a different WDW resort paying cash and then move to a DVC resort on pts. It allows me to conserve highly inflated weekend pts which translates into more WDW trips per year and to also experience many different wonderful WDW resorts. I love it!

Even at 50% off, it's still only about the same price compared to renting at $10 pp when you include tax at it's best comparison.

I don't know if they need the kitchen, but sometimes you can get two regular rooms at wilderness lodge using codes cheaper than you can get a two bedroom. Check mousesavers.com
