Asking for a little pixie dust and help

Hang in there! I'm pulling for you...whatever you decide will be right for you. You don't sound like you are prone to making rash decisions. Take Care! :goodvibes  :goodvibes

big hugs and pixie dust to you. Kudos for getting as far as you have, many don't, so don't get too down. You've come far and you can keep on pushing through it!!! :goodvibes

Man, what a situation to be in!

I haven't really been in such a tight spot before, but my advice would be to not give up yet! Keep pushing your dean until you get the assistance you deserve!

I hope things start to look up for you soon! :wizard:

Bizarre. As an MD and a clinical teacher for my alma mater med school, I found that most schools will work with you (to a point) once you are enrolled. Just so you keep this in the back of your mind, while most med students finish in four years, it is not an overwhelming majority. There were many people I shared anatomy lab with in first year that attended my graduation in the audience, and I was in the audience the following year or two for their big day. No big deal (except for the loans issue).

The road to becoming a practicing physician is a really really long one. Another 6 months or a year of med school won't kill you. (Extra time in a surgical residency, however... I'd beware. :thumbsup2)

Keep at it. You'll be fine.

I am curious which med school you are in that is not being accommodating. If you don't want to share publicly, feel free to PM.

:grouphug::grouphug: I can't add much to your situation, except that you will get through this I PROMISE!!! :grouphug::grouphug: Just don't try to beat yourself up and just take things slow and steady. I wish I knew not to put so much worry in things that never ended up mattering as much as I thought they would later. Hard to explain until you experience it. I know this is HUGE for you, I just want you to remember it will all work out... it ALWAYS does baby :)

Hey Everyone-

So after several frustrating days I've finally had some resolution. While I'll spare you the details I have to mention that is was an administrative nightmare and a lesson in patience in getting help (practically begging). I did finally get approved for temporary disability services (I still don't have an answer unto why I was denied in the 1st place, but I'm going to have to let that go). I've also chosen to withdraw and repeat my Pathology. It's going to delay my timetable, but it's the smartest move based on current circumstances. So at this point, I'm still in 'the game' and pursuing of my dream.

Thanks again for everyone's kind words :)

Best of luck with your new plan! It sounds like it will suit you best at the moment. I know I have had to go to offices in tears before to get suitable help. It did teach me a valuable lesson- you get more done in person than over the phone!

I hope this all works out for you, keep us updated!
