Hey all,

I am retired so no access to the Hub or to the Cast Life portal that I hear about when I call into DCL to make a CM discount reservation on a cruise. We have to wait until Thursdays when they post the new CM discount list on the retiree site (not always consistent). The retiree site does not allow booking directly online. We have to call the cruise line and ask what is available at a cast discount and book that way. As much as I love and appreciate our DCL discount, it does put us at a disadvantage in booking available discount cruises because active CM's, to my understanding, can book a cruise directly online through the Hub 24/7. Sometimes cruises are offered that are not listed on the weekly PDF file posted at the retiree site. I find myself calling the DCL cast line several times a week checking on specific dates we need.

So, my favor is, if any active CM's are perusing the Hub looking for DCL cast discounts and happen to see the August 10th, 2024 7 night Fantasy Western Caribbean cruise offered at a CM discount PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE post or email me. We have several family members in several cabins already booked on that cruise that they booked a year ago at full price and myself/husband and our adult kids' families really want to join them if possible. I can't, in good conscience, pay full price when there is a possibility of there being a cast discount.

I know there have not been many cruises at a cast discount for the summer months lately but I just saw this week that the Wish is being offered in April and May so that makes me a bit hopeful!

Thanks so much if you can help me out if you see that date offered. Much appreciated!

I can message you also, as I stalk the DCL releases every Wednesday. Those Wish discounts make me hopeful as well that some east coast sailing discounts might start trickling in once again.

Just FYI- they have made this very difficult lately. There are a lot of cruises that randomly pop up on The Hub but are not on the listed sheet of dates. I've tried calling when I see it online and they say they can't do it- I would have to book it through the HUB link (because they don't see it on their paper).
The cruises come and go SO fast- I'm talking within a few hours.

I know that's why without HUB access for Retirees it makes almost impossible to keep up with CM discount cruises.

Thank you very much!

There is a "Disney Retirees" Facebook group that posts a link to the cruise cast member discounts as soon as they are published on Wednesday afternoons. The group is also a wealth of additional info for retirees.

Here is the other frustrating thing.
Two weeks ago I watched the June 9
Five night cruise out of Fort Lauderdale pop up. It was $2800 for a balcony and around 2400 for an ocean view for 4.
Within a few hours it was gone. It never showed up on the list in the HUB.
A week later- this past Weds it shows up
again but only ocean view and inside. However the price is now $3800 for ocean view. So they raised the price over $1000 and without the balcony.
Part of me wonders if they don’t list them
so they can raise the prices. I’ve seen this happen before ( our cruise last summer).

I heard about that group but it says you need to give your perner number to join and I thought that was a big no no.

The retiree site through Disney is so sporadic....here it is 7:40 pm and I just checked and the new list is not out yet.

I keep looking but it is a hit and miss. They had a cast member preview to Disney’s new Island that was in the SA section. Think it was offered to the cruise cast first and what was left was given to other cast members. My daughter saw it was was able to book us 4 inside staterooms. It’s a 3-day cruise on the Magic. We will be the first ones to see Lighthouse Point and all CMs only. When I looked a few hours later, it was gone. Wish they would do a better job of advertising these cruises.

So.....how did you like it? The pics and videos I have seen look beautiful but I heard the flies around the food were really bad. The pier walk looks intimidating but I bet its the same distance from the ship to the beach on Castaway Cay which we walk often. I heard Cabana guests and those with mobility issues can get a golf cart ride.

I think many influencers and vloggers were also on that cruise. I know a few who were onboard.

I was not impressed with the new Island. It definitely needs work. No shade and the walk is worse than Castaway Cay. You have to walk the pier and wait in long lines to get on the tram. You can not walk like you could at Castaway Cay. Yes, you can get a ride on a golf cart but you need to go to guest services on the ship to request it. I heard they ordered benches but they never showed up. They definitely need them. The flies were awful and made the food unappetizing to eat. The adult section is not great. It merges into the family section. The shops were crowded and of course you don’t get your discounts. Guests should carry water with them for the walk. Hopefully they will get it together. Not handicapped friendly. The water was pretty but I am not a beach person and it was hard to get chairs. But, we loved the Magic. Glad it is coming back to Port Canaveral next year. That is my opinion. I have a friend on the inaugural cruise right now and both her and her husband have mobility issues. Waiting to get their feedback.

Yes, thank you. Saw the Wish ones but our extended family sailed on the August 10th Fantasy and that was really the one we wanted to be on but it was not to be.....but they all had a great time!!

Thank you for the reply!!! Hopefully they will get their act together and make it more accessible.
