Asking daughter's friends parent to pay for their child's ticket

So, I'll add to the cascade...if this is a birthday party invite, you pay. Period.

If it's too much, plan a different birthday outing or do Universal as family only. My kids have done both birthday friend events and birthday family events, depending on the price point they wanted in that particular birthday year, and they've understood and enjoyed both.

I agree that if you are inviting, you pay. I would expect the guest to have some spending money, but would probably give them a gift card and let them know that it is for purchasing a souvenir just in case they don't have any money. I would expect to pay for the food as well. This is what I do if we take the kids' friends to a theme park for a day trip in our area (Hershey Park).

It's kinda of funny how many times this topic comes up on the DIS. Years and years of it.

Kids keep being born and growing up, and adults encounter experiences they've never encountered before...

A little kid birthday party at a venue (bouncy house, gymnastics studio, museum, etc.) usually costs a few hundred bucks. We live in the north and have 2 kids born in months that are not conducive to outdoor parties, so we spent years coughing up that money for them to celebrate with their friends. As they got older, they were less inclined to have parties, so we started giving them the option of using the "party money" for other outings. One year my son opted to see a Broadway play. Another year, we took a small group of friends to Six Flags. For a birthday celebration, I believe that if you invite, you pay, or at least you offer to (sometimes people will insist on paying for their own kids). If your daughter were younger, and you hired a magician for a home party or you bought a party package at a trampoline park, you would pay more than $136. So maybe it's best to reframe this in terms of a budget for a birthday party, rather than as a ticket for another child.
