Would you book the POFQ and fly or would you stay at a deluxe and drive a 12 hr. plus some stops trip? We are trying to book this weekend and trying to make last minute decisions. THANKS ALL:hippie:

It would depend on the total time you have for the trip. If it's short (3-5 days), then, I'd fly and maximize the time in the parks. If it's longer (7 days +) AND you are the kind of people where the resort/room amenities are important, then I'd book Deluxe.... meaning... does it matter if you have interior corridors? Do the dining options AT THE RESORT really matter to you? Or, is the room simply a crash-pad while you are at WDW?

Hey! I answered my own post, LOL :lmao: after posting it, hubby and I talked it over again and we are going DELUXE and driving. We really don't want double beds and prefer the interior corridors and other amenities of the deluxes and we enjoy our road trips. It is great family time. We haven't been on a 12 hr. trip for a little while but, we did do a 9 hr. one 2 yrs. ago and it wasn't too bad at all. It is fun having your own space, packing what you want/need and not worrying about it and being able to stop and stretch your legs and use the bathroom in a bathroom that you can actually fit in, LOL:rotfl2: Now, it is down to the decision of where deluxe to stay, :rotfl: We are down to AKL, POLY and Wilderness Lodge. We had WL out of the picture but after much research and talking, we really like it now. So funny, how one resort doesn't catch ya right away and then it gets tops in your running. I'll be posting another post about which deluxe everyone likes more. Thanks so much for all your help:thumbsup2

We are down to AKL, POLY and Wilderness Lodge.

just to warn you: that's like posting "what is your favorite food?" :lmao:
you'll prob get an even group for each ~ the answer depends upon each person & their personal experiences (what one may love & find charming, another might find annoying & despise). prob is, they are all great resorts :confused3
just try to expand your research a little ~ try to spend a bit of time looking & reading about the diff resorts on wdwig.com & guidebooks (as well as here, of course), & see which amenities, location, theming, etc appeal to you & your family the most.
(personally, i would pick BWI or YC ~ see what i mean? ;) lol)
hth :)

I agree I would do BWI or YC. YC has the best pool onsite, best quick serve with Beaches and Cream and is centrally located to MGM, Epcot and the Boardwalk. BWI would be my second choice. We love getting up early and going to the BWB, a room by the quite pool and evenings wathing the fireworks. Good luck with your choice. ;)

see, we visited the GF last month to check it out,and i was frankly horrified that it was under so much construction, and it was a deluxe! I would have been livid if i had paid the $$$ to stay deluxe, and it looked like it did, boarded up pool, carpet ripped out of the lobby...yuck! and shame on Disney for not heavily discounting it when it's in that condition!
i'd stay lower 'class' anyday if the hotel is in good shape and has nice atmosphere.....
like a pp said, just my opinion, but again, we also checked out the pofq, and the rooms/grounds were simply lovely, so it pays to check and double check;)
even the value resorts (we tried a couple) were,at the very least, perfectly groomed and in good condition......

We live about a 16 hour drive from the mouse. But if the trip was longer (6 days or more) not including my drive days I would take the deluxe and drive. Which we have done many times. As far as resorts go. AKL and WL are deluxes but do not have larger rooms like the other deluxes. As far as theme it is personal choice. My huge factor seems to be location and transportation. We are the odd balls that found AKL's transportation (not sharing buses) superior to WL's location who do share buses. Just a personal choice. Weigh the pro's and cons. If I had to choose it would be either the Poly for the monorail or BC/YC/BWI for location and the ability to walk to some of the parks. Just my opinion of course.

I think you made a good choice. A 12 hour drive is really not that long. One day and you're there!

Out of the 3 resorts you listed, I would choose the Poly. It can't be beat for location. You can hop on the monorail and be at the Magic Kingdom or Epcot in a matter of a few minutes. Plus the whole resort is just gorgeous! If you haven't seen it, check out the Poly pics thread.

Have a great trip!:)
