Who/What is ASIMO? Is "it" at DLR?

ASIMO is basically an artificial intelligent being, aka robot. It is a show within Innoventions, in Tomorrowland. We were given tickets by a CM while we were in Innoventions. Tickets are free, but the show has set times - hence the need for tickets. If I remember correctly, the theater is on the second level. DH, who designs GPS automatic guidance systems, was seriously impressed with the ASIMO demonstration. If you have any interest in robotics, you will enjoy what the demo has to offer. If you only like sci-fi/movie robots, the demo may not amount to much for you. Hope that helps. If you have any other questions, I'll ask DH tonight.

ASIMO is a robot built by Honda and he's at Innoventions. He's pretty cool--I wouldn't mind having him myself.

The family is into robotics ... have participated in the FIRST Robotics competitions and an underwater robotics competition through school. Sounds like something the family would enjoy....glad I asked! Thanks nuch for the info.

If you like robotics, you'll love Tom Morrow, the robot host who greets the crowd on entry to the Innoventions building. Just for fun, hang around after the crowd has moved on to the next presentation just to watch the detailed movement when nobody is supposed to be watching.

dondiego - if your family participates in robot competitions you will love the ASIMO demo. DS is only 7, loves robots, and really enjoyed the demo. I don't think he completely understood how amazing ASIMO is, but he loved the demo. Have a fun trip.

ASIMO is awesome. I really like the short History of Robots film.
Difficulties, failures and successes in robotics and various movements... leading up to ASIMO.

Innoventions was created specifically for attractions like ASIMO.

An invention designed for the benefit of mankind, going mass production and mainstream general public in the future, and demonstrated today.

I saw ASIMO twice last week and I wish I could have one. That robot looked and acted a lot of human traits. lol

This thread is great, because up to now I've heard very little on Innoventions, and what little I have heard was not positive. I was planning to check it out anyway, because DH and I are computer folks, and he loved a robotics course in college.

Thank you all for bringing this up and talking about it - I think this will be a MUST SEE for us!

I've read that AISMO can recognize up to a certain number of faces, and while walking through the Honda office would great those people. Very awesome technology. Pretty soon the Japanese will have Robot boyfriends or girlfriends

...also when in Innoventions at DL, Talk to Stitch.

His bamboo luah themed area upstairs can't be missed.

It's also a good spot to rest a few minutes and for any kids along to color some Lilo & Stitch coloring pages or play the Stitch video game for a little while.

He is really a lot of fun, especially if you have kids, or even if not.

Stitch fan or not.. it's worth talking to him once.
He is really funny.
(He asked me if I had seen Mickey Mouse, and then said the Mouse still owes him $2!)


You get to talk to him for a few minutes and he asks and answers your questions, just like Turtle Talk with Crush (but this is a far more personal character chat).
At the end Stitch takes your picture for his Ohana/Family Album.


As you exit, the CM gives you a web address so you can retrieve your free picture Stitch took of you.

The pics come out nice, a friend of mine printed and framed hers, of her and her family.

I fully recommend checking out ASIMO and Talk to Stitch inside Innoventions at DL.

The Stitch and ASIMO exhibits sound like a lot of fun. Is there a better time during the day to visit Innoventions to see these? Does the afternoon get crowded? Is there anything else we should check out?

...also when in Innoventions at DL, Talk to Stitch.

We were there on a weekday a couple of weeks ago and Stitch's bamboo luah was closed So be awared that sometimes they Do close this attraction...
