Aside from Chef Mickey's, tell me about breakfast buffets...

Except for Chef Mickey's (because I have been there) what breakfast buffets have you experienced and what is your opinion? If you have experienced multiple buffets, how would you compare them?

Thanks pixiedust:

I tried Boma for breakfast for the first time on my last trip. Our whole group loved it!! Great buffet, and you can't beat the atmosphere there. :)

We have done Donald's Restaurantasaurus, but that was before they moved it to Tusker House. We really enjoyed that. The characters stopped at all the tables and gave you time to take pictures. The food was great too. I always had enough to eat. I would like to try it now that it has moved.

We loved Boma! No characters, but for food I thought it put Chef Mickey's to shame.

We used to do Chef Mickey's frequently. Now we do Crystal Palace for breakfast every year with Pooh and friends. We love the puffed french toast. We used to do the one at the Polynesian when it was Minnie's Menehue Character Breakfast, but we have not been back since they changed it to the new version with Stitch (who we do not like) and made it family style (I prefer buffets). We are trying Cape May Cafe and Boma this year at breakfast after the reviews by MickeyNicki.

We've only done the Donald one before it moved to Tusker, and it was okay. It was WAY crowded, but still had a good time. Food was okay as well. Our fave is Crystal Palace. Wonderful food and great character interaction. We have a CP breakfast every trip now. (It's the one breakfast "must do" for us.)

We're branching out next time though. While we still have CP breakfast scheduled, we're going to try Boma as well. I've seen some fantastic reviews and some really yummy looking pics from the breakfast buffet.

We did Tusker House in Jan. and loved it!! :goodvibes It was a great buffet - lots of traditional choices and some not so traditional. I think my DD10 drank her weight in jungle juice. The atmosphere was fun and the service good too. Donald, Daisy, Mikey, Minnie & Goofy were there that morning.

We are going back on our upcoming Jan. trip.

I really like the Crystal Palace breakfast buffet!!!!!!! The puffed french toast is soo good!!

Our favorite breakfast buffet was Cape May Cafe!! The service was great, the character interaction was great, and the food was awesome!!! We usually have to do it several times during a stay to make DD16 happy. :thumbsup2

We did breakfast at Akershus which is a buffet. There is a cold buffet with pastries, fruit, smoked salmon, etc.. The hot food (eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes) is brought to your table family style but you can ask for more of whatever you like so it's like a buffet.

We really enjoyed this breakfast - we got to meet 5 princesses in a very relaxed atmosphere and have a really good meal.

We did Cape May's character breakfast. It was ok--probably wouldn't go out of our way to do it if we weren't staying at BC. Minnie was very cute in her beachwear. The make your own yogurt parfait bar was a nice feature but other than that nothing stood out. Character interaction was just so-so and our server was downright grumpy!

... Stitch (who we do not like)

What did Stitch ever do to you? :lmao:

We've only done CP and Chef Mickey's and we actually liked Chef Mickey's better. At Crystal Palace the character just seemed rushed and uninterested, and we had a later time slot, so it wasn't even that busy. The food was about equal at both in my opinion.

Did 3 buffet breakfasts the week before last ...

Crystal Palace - :thumbsup2 Loved it! As pp said, the puffed french toast :cloud9: was all I needed! We were a group of 14 (8 kids - 4, 6, 8, 10, 10, 14, 16, 17) and everyone left full and happy. DH & DBIL loved the made-to-order omlets. Only blah choice were the pancakes  we saw them pouring them so we knew they were fresh, but they were dense and crumbly, not soft & fluffy. Not such a big deal since there were plenty of other items to choose from. Characters moved around in quick succession, which was awesome!

Boma - :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 This was our TTFN breakfast last Sunday. We did a late seating since we wanted to check out beforehand and weren't in a rush to get to one of the parks. This was by far one of the best meals of our trip. All but 2 of the kids loved the West African Frunch and asked for more. DH & DBIL loved the carving station with turkey & ham. DS-10 and I loved the thick raisin bread french toast. There weren't any characters, I'm not a huge fan of buffets and it was a bit of a trek from OKW to AKL, but IMO it was most certainly an enjoyable meal. We'll definitely make this one of our first choices next time!

Cape May Cafe - :) This was the only breakfast buffet I had done last August and DD & I thought it was great and worth bringing the whole gang back to. It was the first one we did this year (just 8 of us - me, DH & just the 6 oldest kids) and after doing CP & Boma, unless we stay at Beach Club, we'll probably cross this one off the list in the future. It's a very nice, very low key character breakfast, but by comparision... Crystal Palace had better character interaction and you stepped right into MK when you finished eating :cool1: and Boma... well, there's just no comparision to the food! :thumbsup2

We did lots of buffets on our last trip. In my opinion, Tusker House and Boma are excellent! I highly recommend both! :thumbsup2

Boma is hands down THE best breakfast at WDW......I could eat there every day and be happy! ANother fav is Cape May....tons of pics of both places are in my April link

We really enjoyed the Tusker House Breakfast Buffet - we did not find it too noisy, and there were lots of options for the food. Also, we really enjoyed 'Ohana when we did that before. Boma is a very good breakfast buffet without the characters.

We like the one at Crystal Palace. The setting is a bit on the elegant side, and the food is great. We especially like the extensive selection of fresh fruits.

And getting there for the first seating of the day is just an extra touch of magic. Not just to see MK mostly empty, but to see CP mostly empty! :)

I can't believe no one said Trails End at Fort Wilderness? It's disney's best kept secret! It's a must for us every time! The dinner is good but the breakfast is sooooo good! Yumm!! I highly recommend it :)

Don't forget 1900 PF at the GF!! It is one of our favorites and seems to have a better variety than CP and CM (which are both must do's for us!!)

We enjoyed Boma in 2006, but wouldn't go out of our way to back unless we were staying there.

Other passables are Ohana and Play N Dine, but we are doing those as well this trip since we are on DxDDP and this helps DS get his character fix out of the way so we don't have to see so many in the parks!

CRT we did once, just to try it, but have no desire to go back (very rushed and brisk servers!!) Since there are no princess: in my house, Norway is not now nor has it ever been on our list to try.

We are trying the new Donald's (never cared for the old one) and Cape May this trip to complete the character buffet bonaza!
