ASI Photographers with Characters?

I read a race report that mentioned the ASI Photographers were with the characters during the January races. Can someone confirm and provide details on where they were located? I know this has not been the case prior to 2011. Thanks!

I didn't see any except for by the Castle and the Finish Line that were remotely close to the characters so I wouldn't count on it. There may have been - but I just didn't notice any this time around. Just bring your camera along because the handlers can take great pictures and they are a lot cheaper than ASI. I can't spend less than $50 on a couple photographs. I wish that Disney would consider having their Photopass people with the characters so that people didn't have to carry their cameras and could get decent pictures! I know that would probably be a bit of a conflict for ASI (even though they just take pictures of the actual running) but you can do a lot more with Photopass pictures than ASI ones!

There were many character photo ops on the marathon...probably 20-25, with most opportunities clustered around the parks. Most, but not all, had ASI photographers taking pics. All had at least a Disney CM that would take a picture with your camera if you so desired.

With very few exceptions, every character I stopped to take a picture with, on both days, had both a cast member to take pictures with the runner's camera and a photographer from ASI. Since several of the pictures with my camera didn't turn out well, I'm glad the ASI shots did and that they were included in the full download package.

That was really a new treat... I did not catch on to the ASI photogs until DHS on the SECOND day... but then I generally am not one who stops that often for photos.

Thank you so much! I will be running with both of my sisters. Last year we split the cost of the full download. This worked out great for us and to have more photo ops with characters will be a big plus!

For an opposing POV....

I took my own camera along for the half earlier this month (as I do for all of the Disney races) and think that my photos turned out easily as nice as the ones ASI took and will be significantly less costly to print. At each character stop I simply handed my camera over to the Disney handler who took the picture for me (unlike the Disney Photopass photographers, the ASI photographers refused to take pictures with my camera).
