Hello Everyone!! I've been reading the boards for about 2-3 months now and figure it's about time I start one of these. I'm still learning and not quite sure how everything goes, but I'll do my best!
Chris and I got engaged on February 16. I spent the first 3 months engaged looking at wedding venues around my hometown (Charlotte, NC) and in South Carolina. I had found a place in South Carolina right between Charlotte and Easley (where Chris is from) that was what I thought the "perfect" location. I was all ready to put the deposit down and then I started having my doubts.
I grew up going to Disney. My dad managed food there when I was little, so during the summers when my brother and I would spend with my dad he would let us loose through the parks while he worked during the day. My parents and I still vacation there atleast once a year. My mom and stepdad are in the DVC. They are actually on the DVC Member cruise right now as I type this (so jealous!).
After many sleepless nights trying to decide if the place in SC was right, my stepdad told me that I should call Disney to see what they would have to offer. I had always thought it would be way out of my budget, so I never even bothered calling them. When I first called they took all my information and said someone would contact me in the next few days. I waited very patiently (or atleast tried) and then Joe called me! After my first conversation with Joe all the stress just lifted off of me. I spoke with my parents and they agreed to pay a little more so that I could have a Disney wedding (which is what they wanted all along
) and I called Joe back and we put our tentative holds on. I loved the fact that they handle everything for you and I am confident that my wedding day will be perfect and that I am in good hands. So, here's the details so far:
Ceremony: Sea Breeze Point at noon
Pre-Reception: Martha's Vineyard
Reception: Ariel's at the Beach Club
After Party: Atlantic Dance Hall
Photographer: Courtney and Zahra.. I found them on craiglist. They are fairly new and trying to build their portfolio. They are AMAZING and I am getting soo much for soo little money. They're great! If anyone wants a link to their online portfolio or info just let me know!
Wedding Planner: Meri Williamson
I think that's all the confirmed details for now. We are going for our plannign session on December 15, so I'm just trying to pull all my ideas together to take with me. If anyone has any ideas or good ways to prepare for the plannign session please let me know!! I was just pulling pictures and putting them in a portfolio.
I also have already purchased my dress. I actually work at a bridal boutique so I had plenty of access. It took me FOREVER, though. Since I work with gowns all day and see them on girls all the time, it was hard for me to find one that was special to me. I ended up finding my gown at our Romona Keveza trunk show, put it on, and knew it was the one! It won't come in until February.. so I'm pretty bummed about not being able to see it until then. I am working on having my veil customized. I wanted a veil with pearls on it, and I think I'm going to have the designer throw in a few hidden mickeys made out of pearls.
I think it will be so cute!
Here's the gown: (but in white ofcourse)
Here are the bridesmaid dresses:
They are by Melissa Sweet in the french blue (exactly how pictured). The guys will be in Navy blazers and khaki pants. We actually got all of our blazers yesterday! They're all Ralph Lauren and we got them for 50% off! We got lucky and walked into a sale. I was very happy about that!
I make wedding invitations as a side job, so I am trying to finalize our design. Once I make a sample I will be sure to post pictures!
Well, I guess that's all for now. Still so much to do! I will write more later! This is fun
