Ashlee simpson is going to be on Broadway in Chicago

I was really surprised when i heard this. She is going into the show for 3 months, but she has already done the show in 2006 in London. I guess they always try to throw a name into shows before the holidays. My dd saw this show when they put Usher in, and he was amazing.

Ugh, I'm not a huge Ashlee Simpson fan.. I don't think she's cut out for Broadway, IMO.

I agree, i dont think shes qualified for Broadway. its just the shows do this to bring in crowds for the holidays. she must have a fan base their trying to attract. i only know one of her songs, and i really dont know if she can dance or not. My dd goes to Theatre school in NYC and i can think of about 50 girls who would do justice to that role, problem is they don't have a famous sister!

And just which role i "Chicago" is Ashlee Simpson right for? I'm sitting here racking my brain...I know it must be Roxee Hart (*surely NOT Velma?!?), but even so....just can't see her in hardly anything in the show.

If she can cope in the West End, she should do fine on Broadway. Not that I support the decision to cast her, but she has already done the part in London so couldn't have been that awful.

And if I am not mistaken, she did play Roxie.

Yes its Roxie hart. i don't know if she has the pipes for Broadway. I hate when they put celebrities in Broadway shows. You have to be a triple threat, be able to sing, dance and act. I know ashlee did the lip syncing thing on tv. i wont go pay money to see her in it.

She was 11 when she was admitted to the School of American Ballet, so she can definitely dance. She can't sing though, and I don't know if she can act either.

There is no way in the world she could be worse than when Melanie Griffith was in it. She couldn't dance, sing, or act (I know she's a decent film actress, but it just didn't translate to the stage).

oh yes i remember when melanie griffith was in it! i think they did it because her husband antonio banderas was in 9 at the time and they thought it would bring in more crowds. I loved Antonio in that show, he really was very good.
i dont know, she could be fantastic, will have to wait for the reviews.

I have heard this too. I think she's an ok singer, she is in Melrose Place right now. Like her character...she's dark and kinda weird in it.
