A special report on Fox News just said that there was some type of "note" or "message" left for police at the Ponderosa last night with a phone number for the police to call.

Weird

Not confirmed yet - will probably be hard since they have no ballistic evidence yet. But from the sounds of the police on the news and info we have read lately, it seems they are leaning more and more towards saying it was the Sniper. This message seemed to have confirmed it more.

I was in DC last night, and saw all the Helicopters flying around. When I got to my hotel, I saw what had happened.

From msnbc.com -IN A tantalizingly cryptic press conference Sunday night, Charles Moose, the Montgomery County, Md., police chief, spoke briefly to reporters, saying he would take no questions. Moose read a statement that seemed to speak directly to the unknown party.
“To the person who left us a message at the Ponderosa last night: You gave us a telephone number. We do want to talk to you. Call us at the number you provided. Thank you.” With that, Moose turned and left the podium.
Officer Joyce Utter, spokeswoman for Montgomery County police, said afterward: “To the person who left the message, it should make complete sense. That is the only person Chief Moose wants to talk to.”

Also from msnbc.com -- and as commented on the Today Show this morning --

“This could be a very difficult time we are about to go through,” an investigator told NBC’s David Bloom at the scene of the shooting, without elaborating.

Here's another news tid-bit:

The message contained significant text and was found in woods behind the restaurant, the Richmond Times-Dispatch reported Monday, quoting law enforcement sources it did not name. The report also said police have found more than one tarot card during the investigation.

If the latest attack is linked, it would also break the longest lull between shootings, about five days, and be the farthest point from Washington yet.

Previously, the longest distance from Washington that the sniper had struck was Spotsylvania County, about 50 miles south of Washington. Ashland is about 85 miles south of Washington.

Former FBI profiler Clinton Van Zandt said Saturday’s shooting, if related, could show the killer’s approach is changing in response to law enforcement tactics. For instance, reports last week that military surveillance planes would be used in the Washington suburbs probably prompted the sniper to move farther away, he said.

And since much had been made about the weekend lulls, “I think he reacted to that,” Van Zandt said.

I don't know is this makes sense or not but the sniper suposedly leaves a phone # , the police is asking him to call that #?? aren't the police supposed to be doing the calling?? or did I miss something here?? weird! How scary for the people living in the area and how sad for the families who lost loved ones.

I keep thinking that maybe the sniper mentioned the sniper tip hotline or even worse maybe he is listing police officers home telephone numbers (Chief Moose perhaps) as a way of taunting the police some more.

“This could be a very difficult time we are about to go through,” an investigator told NBC’s David Bloom at the scene of the shooting, without elaborating.

This statement scares me... :(
