First off, we've never stayed on site, always a condo. I was lucky enough to get two rooms at AS Sports with free dining for the dates that we're going, 8/28 through 9/3. At the time I booked I priced POR but didn't want to upgrade without checking it out with the hubby. I called back later to try to get POR, which we've always dreamed about staying at, but they were now booked for those days. So now I'm bummed that I couldn't get POR or any moderate for that matter. I feel like I'm missing my big chance to stay on site at these resorts we've always just looked at.

Please tell me that we'll still experience the on site "magic" we've heard so much about. ;) :wizard:

I'm sorry you didn't get the resort you wanted. We didn't get exactly what we wanted either. We first could get only ASSp but called back and got ASMu. At least my Dd won't flip at the Sports thing. The CMs we spoke with said to keep trying and call back. There may be cancellations. Some Disboarders recommended calling back at the end of the two week period when you must leave your deposit. There may be many more cancellations then. Good luck! I bet you will end up in POR yet. :goodvibes

I have stayed at AS-Sports twice including last year in Sept. It has been quiet, clean, and fun both times. The fear there are that teams and/or cheerleaders will be there en masse, but during FD, it's too early ijn the school year for all that. Also, the park busses stop at Sports before the other AS resorts, so you get the best seats, although most of the time, each has its own busses. If the big pool is closed when you are there, the pool at Music is easily walked to. Have a great time.

Try to keep in mind that you are at Disney! Everything will be larger than life there and very Disney feeling. You will probably not be there as much as you think, and it will be a welcome sight at the end of a very long day!

Have fun and enjoy Disney!

I just realized I posted under Codes instead of Resorts.

Thanks so much for the input. At least I got my dates!!! I'll keep checking back for POR. You never know.....

Keep calling. I called yesterdays for August 26-September 4. POFQ and POR were the cheapest resorts that came up. I was hoping to change my reservation from Sports to Pop Century.

My first ever (took me 33 years!) WDW trip was last year-July 9-14-at ASSports. My ds turned 9 on the 13th, and he is a sports fanatic, so I let him look at the pics and choose from the values. We had an awesome time. Everything was clean, beds were fine, and we got towel animals every day. I left mousekeeping $2 a day in envelopes that we decorated. I put notes about this being our first trip, and when ds's birthday was. On his birthday, we got balloons and a card from Mickey and Minnie. For our afternoon I had set aside for swimming, we asked for extra towels (put it on the tip envelope) and we had a stack waiting for us when we got in from the parks. It was really a magical experience.

I'm booked at Pop for our 2nd trip this November, my daughter's choice to celebrate her 8th birthday. But we were very pleased with Sports!

My first ever trip (took me 25 years!) was to All Star Sports.
We loved it because we were AT DISNEY!
You will enjoy it no matter what because you will be making magic in the parks.

Keep checking! I booked yesterday (was on vacation last week, argh!), and could only get the Sports at first, when I wanted Music or POP, but took it, we wanted FREE dining more than a resort, and Sports still looked nice, it's Disney! Later the Movies showed up for my dates, I passed on it, I didn't feel more/less for anyone. Then this morning Music showed up for my dates. I had to go to work and had a meeting till 11AM, but thankfully it was still available at that point. Called, got a CM right away. Had to hold 15 minutes since the system wouldn't allow him to change my reservation, but he did it, thankfully! This afternoon, no more Music, Movies preferred only, but I got it, so no more worry. Keep checking the website (SO SLOW, I know), and see if any moderate comes up.

I say "keep checking" also. Sometimes they come through. I have stayed at AS-Sports many times and really enjoyed it. I was just going through old WDW stuff today and saw many AS Sports things in there and it brought back fond memories of fun times. We always stayed in the football building which was close to everything (food court and buses and pools). Good luck as POR is also a dream come true (we stayed in Magnolia Bend). I hope your on-site experience is as good as ours has always been!

Keep calling back and there's a good chance you'll get POR. And in worst case scenario, you'll be at Disney w/ FREE DINING, now what's so bad about that?:goodvibes

I kept calling but they said they never had more than one room available. I was actually able to book my two rooms on line. YEAH!!! :cheer2:

So now I need to cancel my other two reservations.

I am sooooo excited!!! :woohoo:

Thanks to everyone for making me feel better about AS Sports. I know it would have been fun even with the pool being closed. Now I just need to get cheap airfare to go with my deal. :)
