AS Movies Preferred?

I've read that the Toy Story Building, the Fantasia Building, and the Dalmation Building are preferred rooms, but are the entire building in each preferred? At POP only part of the 50's, 60's, and 70's are preferred. I am curious if it's the same way at AS Movies. Are the back sides of all those buildings also preferred?

How large is this resort compared to POP? I know POP holds more people due to their buildings being four stories tall instead of three like the All Stars, but walkingwise how do they compare? From the way the buildings are arranged it appears that the Mighty Duck and the Herbie Buildings are quite a trek from the bus stop. I've also stayed at AS Sports and AS Music. Because of the way they are arranged, none of the buildings at AS Sports seem that far from the main building, but at AS Music the standard buildings seemed to be VERY far away from the main building.

Also how is the transportation at AS Movies? This is the only value I've never stayed at. I have always been hesitant to stay there, due to it being the third pick up. I'm thinking of staying there May 3rd-10th, if that matters. Someone convince me I won't be standing on every bus and then having to walk a mile to my room. Is a preferred room necessary here? (when I've stayed at AS Music or CBR I've booked a preferred room and will again if the standard rooms are quite a hike to the bus stops. but would prefer not to if they are fairly close)

We stayed at Movies in January. We had a preferred room in Fantasia. It was on the front side of the building. It was an excellent location, close to everything but quiet. As for a hike to the bus stop...we walked around the resort the last day and some buildings did seem quite far away.

As for bus service, I wasn't impressed but it may have just been our luck. We did have a wait from the MK but they had direct buses from there. Our biggest complaint was bus service from DD, it ALWAYS took a long time.

The beds were fine. The rooms are a bit smaller than POR but we only had two people.

I have stayed at both Pop and ASMo. From what I understand all of the Toy Story, Fantasia, and Dalmations are prefered but I could be wrong. The love bug and mighty ducks are a distance probably the same as the ASMusic rooms would be non preffered. To compare to Pop love bug would be about where the bridge is.

As for busses, I actually had better luck getting a seat on ASMovies bus than Pop busses. We rarely shared a bus at ASMovies when going to the parks but coming home were shared with one or the other AS resorts. It wasn't too bad stopping once before getting to our resort. Remember too that ASMovies has less guests than Pop which is why I had better luck getting a seat. Both had waits for DTD that seemed longer than the park busses. The bus stops were closer with All stars than Pop. I have only stayed in August, September, and October which might make a difference as well.

Thanks for the replies. I'm still undecided if I want to chance the bus service at AS Movies, but would like to stay there just because it's the only Value I've never stayed at before (want to try all the resorts at least once ).

IMHO, I would not worry about the busses. I have heard a lot of complaints about AS and praise for the pop busses only having one stop. I myself prefered the AS busses over Pop which were always over crowded compared to the AS busses I took. Except at the end of the night of course then they are all packed. Remember you will only have that extra stop on the way back from the parks not on the way too with ASMo and it is a quick stop anyway.

We have stayed at Movies two times. My advice, don't pay for prefered location and request Mighty Ducks. This building has it's own pool and is a very quick walk to ASMusic bus stop and food court!! You also have the option of taking either bus when leaving a park. If the Music stop is packed hop on a Movies bus. The walk from the main building is not terrible and it sometimes beats waiting in line at a park for a bus. We have done this both times we have stayed here and it has worked out great for us!!
Best kept secret we learned here on the DIS!!
I can't compare to Pop as we have never stayed there but we are trying it for one night on our upcoming trip!!

I concur with the Mighty Ducks. I have stayed at ASMo and ASMu and the Mighty Ducks was closer to the All Star Music snack bar then some of the preferred buildings of All Star Music. The pool was also a good location. It is nice to use either All Star Music or All Star Movie busses.
