As if yesterday wasn't bad enough

Yesterday: MrNeo had his viva for his PhD but he has been downgraded to an M.Phil. I was quite gutted by the news but nearly over it.

Today: letter in the mail from MrNeo's workplace (he works there part time) to say that he might be made redundant from 5 October. The place where he works his been suffering from extremely bad managment from day one and now it looks like the end is near. It is not 100% certain, they just managed to get some extra funding in, but not sure yet if it will be enough to make a difference. There are giving extra days of leave to look for other work, but we've just paid for our 2 and half weeks vacation in November and we're also taking 2 weeks off in January to go to a convention for my work (he also works part time for me). All that time off obviously won't help with finding another job.

So sorry to hear your news, DH was made redundant 4 years ago and although we struggled for a while he now has a much more enjoyable job, and looks forward to going to work again after all the tension of his previous place of employment. I feel so sorry for you and your DH. I am in the process of re-submitting my PhD thesis and so I understand how upset you must both be. Mine has taken 10 years part time and it was a borderline pass (hence the re-submit). I wish you both all the best.
