Who can tell me a little more about this? I am going to be at POP in 13 days & my family will wish I had stayed at home if I don't get a couple of cups of coffee. I will go to any lengths (as will they) to make sure this vice of mine has been satisfied. ;) Somewhere in the boards, I seem to remember several people complaining about the coffee at POP.....what is the story? I don't need Starbucks every day, but it has to be as least as good as Foldgers :rotfl:

I can't give you any advice about POP coffee per se, but if it's like most of the coffee at WDW, meaning that Nescafe instant crap...you're in trouble. Bring your own, even if you have to take your own coffee maker. I'm a coffee addict/snob. We like the coffee at Kona Cafe a lot! And, the Dolphin (where we're staying in 21 days) serves Starbucks. Thank goodness. This summer we stayed at the Beach Club and I made coffee in the room.

Just wanted you to know you're not alone. I'm sitting here right now with my Starbucks Verona that I just ground and made fresh this a.m. Yummy!

Coffee in most of WDW is terrible (IMO). I must have my coffee at 5am and it has to be good.
I don't think the values have pots in the room (but I could be wrong).
Take your own pot if they don't and your own coffee. I always take coffee where ever I go.

Im sorry to say that the POP has the same coffee as the rest of their resorts. At lease it didnt taste any better to me when we stayed there!! We were spoiled last Thanksgiving at Dolphin with the Starbucks they served!

I keep seeing the word INSTANT.....I didn't even know they still made that stuff! Seriously! :rotfl2: OK, so I can't get a cup of brewed coffee at POP?!! Walmart, here I come, I guess i'm taking a coffee maker.....UGH!

The coffee at Roaring Forks is 100% ground/real Colombian. I know, because when we stayed there last(earlier this year), I asked and they showed me the grounds, etc.

So, all is not lost. Apparently some of the various WDW dining venues have been allowed to change over to better coffee than NesCrud (which I think is instant granules or coffee concentrate).
*sigh*...But I do remember the days when Port Orleans had (really good!)brewed coffee worthy of the Crescent City...

agnes!

I need my coffee to get me going :Pinkbounc I am bringing a small coffee pot with me :flower: I don't even think I will bring it home. I'll use that space for Disney stuff :cool1:

:sunny: I have to say I have stayed at EVERY deluxe hotel in Disney and the only hotels who had decent coffee where the Dolphin and Poly!!

Im not a coffee drinker, but DH is and we are taking a 4 cup coffee maker in our luggage so he can have coffee at POP when he wakes up. Good thing we decided to do this since everyone says the coffee is so bad. We stayed at CR last time and they provided a coffee pot. Wish the values did.

That is what I remember! I didn't know that all resort coffee was not created equal.

I'm not sure what folks mean by instant. :confused3 The regular coffee at the Pop food court is brewed Nescafe. Its served out of the huge industrial coffee vat things (you know, you push a lever and coffee comes out...). Its definitely NOT anything close to Starbucks, but it is also far from the worst hotel coffee I've ever had. It was cheap too as I recall, only $1.50 or so for a pretty big cup. And if you have the DDE card its 20% off that.

And alas, there are no coffeemakers in the room.

The coffee at most of the places in Disney was awful! So this year I am bringing along the Folgers prefilled filters. I won't have to drag our coffeepot along since we are staying at POR but I will have to bring our own coffee. I had to do this when we stayed in Vegas, not because of the terrible coffee but since none of the rooms have coffeepots and I need a cup of joe right away in the morning we just packed our own.

I'm concerned too! So, I bought a one cup coffee maker...at Walmart. Also, bringing my own Starbucks coffee.
Is there a Starbucks close to Disney where I can buy ground coffee to take back to the room?
Gotta have my Starbucks!

The nearest is Orlando World Center Marriott or Premium Outlets.

I purchase a coffeemaker too for POP, and then find someone on the budget board to take it at check in

We always head over to the Kona Cafe at the Poly on our first morning for breakfast and to buy some of their ground Kona coffee to make back at the room. The Kona has great coffee as does the Animal Kingdom. Fresh at the Dolphin also has great coffee. Some of the little coffee koisks also have good coffee. I enjoyed the coffee at the Cape May Cafe and also at the little coffee area in the BC gift shop. If you need a fix first thing in the morning to get going invest in the kona and brew your own. When you think of how much the trip is costing you it is a small investment.

Good idea!!! You can buy a small coffee pot at Walmart for about 10.00 and just leave it in the room when you leave so you don't have to cart it home!!

I always take my own electric kettle and a french press coffee maker. My whole coffee kit has its own duffle bag for travel. If I don't have a decent cup of coffee in the morning, my day just drags. I know I shouldn't admit to this addiction, but as addictions go, I guess it isn't too bad. :goodvibes

By the way, I had posted recetnly if anyone knew where to get a PLASTIC carafe french press (for travel) and got lots of great suggestions. I did find one here in Toronto at St.Lawrence Market. The web-site on the box is www.bonjourproducts.com if anyone is interested.

Toad....someone I can totally relate to!! We have shipped boxes to WDW with all our coffee tools several times. Grinder, french press, measuring spoons etc. Nothing like haiving a cup of fabulous coffee sitting on your balcony at the Boardwalk Inn!! Next trip I am downsizing and stopping at the Starbucks at the Premium Outlet Mall for a bag of already ground beans and just using the drip machine at BWV, hope I survive!! :rotfl: :rotfl: You would think Disney would get going on this and get at least a couple of "real" coffee spots on property....sorry and no intent to offend anyone here but the coffee at Poly just doesn't cut it for me. Bring in Starbucks or Peets and give us coffee addicts somewhere to go!!! ::MinnieMo

Starbucks would be a great idea!!! :goodvibes I'm not familiar with Peets. Maybe I'll find one of these when DH and I are driving down to Florida.
Anyways, for now I'll bring the pot and the Starbucks coffee, and hope for the best.
