If I remember correctly, Taste and ChicagoFest were two different things. ChicagoFest was always held at Navy Pier, and it was more of a music festival, while Taste is always in Grant park, with the emphasis obviously on food. But I could be wrong. After all, I was only 12 at the time.

Corrine- I was Jane Byrne- her and her daughter went up on stage with "Jake and Elroy" and had the hats and sunglasses on- my memory is slowly returning lol

OK...Jane Byrne became mayor in Spring of 1979, after the BIG snowstorm!!! I remember cuz I was going to school in Chicago that year. (BTW - Michael Bilandic just died.) The first Taste of Chicago was in 1981...and that's the one I was at...on July 3rd for the fireworks/food!
