Hey all you DISers... we are planning our Disney trip and decided not to take DD and DS out of school. They get out on June 4 and I have heard that it's not too bad to go to Disney at that time. Is that true?? What can I expect?? We are tentatively planning June 5-12 and staying at either WL or POR. We hope to mostly do MK due to ages of the kids.

Thanks all!!

We're so excited!!!!

Not bad at all. However you will be coming in on Gay Days. That Saturday they will be at MK and it will be busy. After that you should have a nice trip.

Welcome to the DIS!!!!!

We have been there for three years around that time. The crowds are moderate and the weather is hot! Hot and humid! There are sometimes afternoon showers during that time, but they don't last too long. We really like visiting Central Florida then and would not hesitate doing our trips there every year at that time.

I was very concerned the first time we went since we visited in the fall before, but I was pleasantly surprised. Get to the parks early, take afternoon breaks at the resort in the pool because the heat is very bad then, and take advantage of fast pass when necessary and have a great trip!::MickeyMo

I certainly hope that you will reconsider your "mostly MK" plan between now and your trip! An eight-day trip to WDW gives you pleanty of time to visit ALL of the parks, and I would strongly encourage you to do so. There are pleanty of attractions and shows at the other parks suitable for school-age children.

Let me just agree with tjkraz.
We have two kids, DD4 and DS10, and they both love all the parks. A lot of people make the mistake of thinking Epcot is not kid friendly, but that is so wrong. My kids love Epcot! This last trip we got them the World Showcase passports, DD4 had so much fun going to each country to get hers stamped and signed. They had a blast decorating their masks at each of the countries, and as a bonus there were a ton of characters in the pavilions with no waiting in line.
Future World has a lot of hands-on type of things for kids to do.
At MGM, the kids love everything. The rides and the shows.
And Animal Kingdom has lots of animals, what else! My kids enjoy seeing the animals interacting with each other and sometimes showing off for the people viewing them. The safari ranks #1 with my kids, they also love Kali River Rapids (DD4 was tall enough this year to ride!). DD4 also loved the Boneyard, anytime digging and sand are involved she will love it.
Take the time to read up on all the parks and what they have to offer before you discount them....
And enjoy your trip!!!!

Ok, I think some people missinterpreted me when I said we would be spending most of our time at MK. We, of course plan to visit all of the parks. I am especially looking forward to Epcot, but we are planning on 2-3 days at MK and one day at each of the others with BB mixed in. Thank you everyone for the responses and advice. It is appreciated since I have only been to Disneyland and never Disney World. We used to go to Disneyland once or twice a year. I'm sad that my favorite ride is not at MK...the Matterhorn! I wish MK had it!

There are so many other things at WDW that make up for the Matterhorn! It is so exciting to plan a first trip to WDW. I did DL every year for so many years until we visited WDW in 1997. We have only been back to DL once since we visited WDW!

You should get a lot done during your week. Remember to bring lots of sunscreen, misty fans or squeeze breezes, and ponchos to carry in a back pack, too! Your kids are great ages for character meals. We prefer to do meals vs. waiting in line at the parks for pictures and autographs with the characters. There are a lot to choose from.

Happy planning!!!!!!!::MickeyMo
