As a parent, how would you feel about this

I bought a container of glow sticks to take to Disney to use during Spectro. There are more sticks in the container than we will need so I thought I could offer one to any child nearby who didn't have one. Now I'm wondering if a parent might be bothered by this. How would you feel if a complete stranger (female) offered a glow stick to your child?

As a parent I'd think it would be a very nice gesture. I'd just ask the parents if it was ok first.

I would think it was that Disney Magic popping up and would think it was really nice of you. My girls would love it! If you are worried, I would just ask the parent first if it is ok to offer one to their child/children. I'm sure they would appreciate your offer!!

It wouldn't bother me at all. During our last triip, I gave out glow sticks also. No one ever refused them or looked strangely at me.

I'd let me kids take it.

I've done the same thing when we had extras on our trips. I usually ask the parents before offering to the kids - so the kids won't be disappoint if mom/dad says no.

The happy look on the kids faces is great.

We did this during our last trip! We just made sure to ask the parent BEFORE offering it to the child. Nobody refused, and they stopped quite a few kids from crying, lol!

I remember one time in Epcot a small boy, around 3, was sitting with his grandfather on a bench and just wanted to "get down, Grampie, let me down, where's mamma, let me get down, let me go, Grampie, let me down." The poor man, lol! Anyways, my DS who was 2 came with me and we gave him a couple of glow sticks (the kind made into bracelets) - the child quieted down, and the Grandfather said "oh thank you, thank you... " LOL

I feel the same as most of the above posters -- it's a nice gesture (a "random act of kindness!"), but be sure to ask the parents first.

I also think this is a great thing to do, we always buy packs at the Dollar Tree, of the necklaces and braclets and take to Fantasmic. As you must get there an hour before hand to get seats and it's hard for kids to just sit still that long. We always befriend the couple in front or beside us and share ours with their kids.

This year we met a very nice couple from Canada with a 9 year old daughter. She and our DS 7 and DD 2 had great fun playing and talking together before the show. The first time they had seen Fantasmic, when we were talking to them we found out they were staying at the same place we had stayed the year before.

I would not think it was weird. I would chalk it up to everyone being nice at Disney and would count is a nice gesture! My girls would love it if somebody did that!!! (I would agree to ask the parent first just in case so the kid isn't disappointed)...

I just got my braclets today at the dollar store for dds (5 & 10) and for my neice (14) and nephew (12). I know my brother won't think of these kind of things and even though they are older, I don't want them to be left out

I would love it!!! What a thoughtful thing to do....Besides, it's not like your offering food or something you could have tampered with. Like the other posters said, just ask the parents first so no one thinks you are "randomly" approaching kids!!!

If I were the mom & your offered that to my kids I would think of it as a very kind thing to do. It's very thoughtful to even think of another child. I don't think anyone should have a problem with this.
