Can FIL and MIL book two rooms at CBR for DH and I, even if they don't stay with us? They are DVC members since 2001/2002 with BCV.
We are booked 3/2008 for DCL Magic Eastern and would like to stay at CBR Friday before cruise. Has anyone done this before?
What's the easiest and most cost-effective way to transport from MCO to CBR on that Friday? We want to cut risk of weather delays and stay on property so that the DCL transfers will be in effect for Saturday am.
Any other comments are surely welcome!

Use Magical Express from the airport, which is free. Call the reservations #, and ask to reserve it. They will send you the luggage tags, and take the luggage right to CBR for you. I don't understand your question about the rooms, though. If I understand you correctly, your inlaws reserved the rooms but they won't be on the vacation with you. I don't see that you would have any trouble. I reserved one room for my DD and her friends, and paid for the room. There was no difficulty at all.

Thanks Cruelladeville! No, inlaws wouldn't be with us - unless they wanted to be. I'm trying to figure out our options. DH is an only-child and we've never asked to use the DVC points for our own reservation. Now I know I can ask.
That's great news about the Magical Express. Do I have to be a DVC member myself?? It sounds odd that something would be free! I would put luggage tags on at my airport and they'd transport for me? Wow - that sounds too good to be true.
BTW, if you want to pay for my room I'm game! :rotfl:

Do you have any other tips for a WDW to DCL jaunt? I'm not new to DCL but extending the trip is a first for us.

Kim,

From your post, I am assuming that you want to ask your in-laws, who are DVC members, to make you a room reservation using DVC points at CBR, but under your name rather than theirs.

This is perfectly acceptable, the DVC member does not have to be on the reservation nor be there at check-in.

However, I would strongly suggest that they book a studio at a DVC resort, since the points are less than a CBR room and you have more amenities (balcony, bigger room, microwave, etc).

A standard view CBR room for Friday night in March would be 38 points, water view would be 43. A Boardwalk View Boardwalk, Beach Club, or Wilderness Lodge studio would be 29-32 points. Standard View Boardwalk or SSR studio would be 26-29, and Old Key West would be 24-27 points.

A lot of DVC members would likely pay cash for a moderate night over points for a weekend night, as they run weekends at a premium.

HTH!

Thanks for this information. Since they are BCV owners that may work out. Providing DCL works with that resort with the transfers.
