As a child, how often did you go to Disney?

I see there are a lot of people here who go yearly to Disney, but as a child - did you go that much? We went one time when I was 13 - best family vacation ever for us - LOL! And then I didn't return until I was in my 20s (Dh was down there for training and I went to visit). My kids (10, 9, and 7) and going for their 5th time in February.

I had been wanting to go back before this Feb, but with moving (military) and DH being deployed, this is the first time we are able to get there and I can't wait... I feel like a kid again :)

I went once when I was in 7th or 8th grade. I don't even think it really qualifies as a trip. We were in Florida visiting my Grandma for Christmas and went to the Magic Kingdom for a day trip on 12-28-1980-something. Totally unprepared for Christmas crowds. It was horrible ... I rode Small World, ate a hamburger, listened to my Dad swear, and bought a Mickey sweatshirt. I told everyone at home that it was fun ... I lied.

I returned as an adult with meticulous plans and loved the place. Even overcame my fear of peak season crowds and tackled Easter break twice.

About every other year, same as now. We had family in Jacksonville that we would visit and then keep heading south.

My family went once during my childhood. I was 13 at the time. Then I went again with my DH when I was in my twenties. Since then I have been back twice with our own kids with our trips being four years apart! Our last trip was this past summer. :woohoo:We had a great time. I just wish we could go more often - even every two years would be wonderful!

Until then, I am Dis surfing and Disney dreaming!:cloud9:

Twice, once when I was three, and again when I was 10. I remember both times!

I went once when I was 7 with family and then again on a school trip when I was 16. When I was 19 I went with my DBF and his family (he is now my DH), then we didn't go until after we were married and I was 23. Starting when I was 26 (and our DD was born) we began going almost every year.

Never.....and nobody I knew ever went. It just wasn't a possibility for me or any of my friends.

First trip was summer between Kinder and First grade. My Mom had gone back to work and she saved for us to go. It was our first family vacation. We drove from Texas and stopped at Graceland, Lorretta Lynn's Ranch and Nashville. We spent 1 day at Disney. Then went to Busch gardens.

Second trip I was in 3rd grade. We only went because my brother was in the high school band and they had a trip planned for WDW. My Mom would not let him go unless she was there. That trip I remember freaking out in Peter Pan- the ride stopped and I was terrified of heights. My Dad was so mad he kept yelling at me that I was 5 feet off the ground and quit crying.

3rd trip I was a Jr in high school. Mom took my future SIL and me. It rained the whole trip. I was sick. Mom refused to ride any rides and got mad when SIL and I went on anything that took longer than 10 mins.

So basically the 3 trips I took as a kid all SUCKED. I make up for it now. Dh, DD and I have fab trips!

I have been twice, once in 5th grade to DL with family friends I was visiting in CA. The next visit was in 8th grade to WDW with my mom, dad and little bro. My older siblings didn't want to go. We got to stay at the Grand Floridian a few weeks after it opened. The only reason we got to go on vacation is because my dad had a medical conference in Orlando. It was one of the best vacations we had.

I hope we can take our kids at least 2-3 times to experience it at different ages.

I went when I was 6 or 7, 13, 17 (with my high school band) and 21 with my parents when my brother was in the high school band. We never stayed on property and only visited Magic Kingdom and Epcot once. The last time I was there, AK was just in the planning stages and HS was still MGM, but we went to Universal instead. This will be the first trip for my husband and boys 11 and 3. I hope we'll be able to take them again before the oldest is out of school.

We could never have afforded it when I was a kid, but my aunt took me, my mom(her sister) and my cousin when I graduated from high school (1991) we stayed offsite and visited MK, HS(MGM at that time), and Epcot- then I didn't go again until I was married and my DD was 3(2005) Now we are hooked, have been every year, done the cruise, and bought DVC. :lmao::lmao:

To WDW? I've been three times over the course of the past 7 years (but only two of those were WDW vacations), and I hope to go in June 2011 for a fourth time.

To DL? I went when I was very little (we lived in SoCal), then again in '98, then again last year.

And I've been once to TDL which was about Thanksgiving '96 or so.

However, I have not been nearly as frequent as most of the kids on the TB, or the children of the average DISer (mostly because I'm the only one in my family who likes to go often). :p

I never went as a child. My first time was at 22 years old with my now husband.

DD is 5 and she has never been. Aiming for 2010!

We went every year for about 6 years, right after they opened. My parents would drive us down to FL from NJ to visit our grandparents who wintered there (even though they lived in NJ, and we saw them all of the time), and then we'd head to WDW (and stayed onsite - only 3 choices!). I also went with my mom after college, and with DH when we were still dating. My 2 oldest have been there twice, and my other kids only once, because it's so expensive with a large family.

I went twice as a child..age 7 and 16.

My oldest, age 18, has been at age 3, 9, 12 (very brief trip), age 14, 16 and 17...so 6 times.

My little ones have been three times in 3 1/2 years and we've decided it's too much for them so we're taking a break for a little while.

I'm the Disney fanatic, as evidenced by the fact that I'm still on the Dis even though there are no plans to return to Disney anytime in the near future..

My first trip was when I was 25. I grew up in NC in a middle class area but I never knew anyone who went. In fact, the trip when I was 25 was becasue my Mom won it. It wasnt something that we had been dying to do. Once we got there we both knew that we were HOOKED!

My DH's first trip was the year after we got married - in 2001. So he was around 29 I think. He prefers Cruises and Vegas but will go to WDW every few years since I like it so much :thumbsup2

My DS went for his first trip last year when he was 4.

Never, and no one I knew had ever been, either. I grew up in Missouri, and our vacations consisted of camping, Silver Dollar City, and for a real walk on the wild side, and Springfield, Illinois.

Like I assume many of the other posters, it was not economically viable for my family. My dh and I have both greatly improved upon the education and subsequent incomes of our parents, so we are able to offer ds a better life. I should add, my parents did the same thing in their generation.
