As a child, how often did you go to Disney?

From 1972 to 1979, at least once a year.

From 1979 to now, 2 to 4 times a year.

I grew up 90 minutes from the front gates of the Magic Kingdom.

I went three times when I was a kid and my dh went once. Our dds 10 and 14 are going on their 5th trip in June. Can't wait!! :goodvibes

I went twice. First was when I was 5 or 6, during the summer. My Grandparents packed all the cousins into a van and we drove from Missouri to Indiana and on to Florida and then stayed at a KOA campsite for the trip. On the way back, I think we somehow stopped in Washington, DC??? LOL. The second time, was just my family and it was our one BIG family vacation. I think I was 12, maybe? We stayed at a Ramada resort somewhere and did SeaWorld and NASA as well. I think we maybe only spent 3 days or so at Disney World. I didn't return until I was 24.

I grew up 30 minutes from Disneyland in CA and went once a year or more as a child, especially when they still used individual ride tickets and going for an afternoon was enough and didn't break the bank. In high school we performed there with the band every Christmas season plus I went with friends and family. My one trip to WDW was at age 15 with the high school band as well.

Then came The Dark Years. From 1992 until 2001, I was at Disneyland only once, for a day (we lived in Ohio and were poor students). Now that we live in AZ, we've been to Disneyland four times in the last eight years (taking the kids as they grew). DH and I went to WDW on a short last-minute trip last year and are pre-planning a trip with the kids in 2011. DH thinks it will be a once-in-a-lifetime trip but you and I know better!;)

As an adult, we try and go every year. Sometimes we miss a year (like this one) because of various things--buying a new house, having two mortages, suprise pregnancy that puts me on modified bedrest, etc. It's been a fun year!

As a kid, we went each and every spring break without fail. My grandparents wintered in Tampa and my parents took advantage. My first trip was at 2 years old, and that was that.

DHs first trip was as an adult when I took him for the first time.

Three times as a kid: twice with my family (11 and 16) and once with my HS marching band, where we got to use the utilidors and march in the afternoon parade.

This spring, my DD will do the same with HER high school. But she won't let me go as a chaperone! :sad2:

We went in 1986--I was 10. My next trip was to Disneyland in 1999, then pretty much every since since then I've gone to WDW. Both my kids went in utero and my oldest have been there five times! :scared1:

As a kid, I went to WDW every year, since it opened. Twice we went to Disneyland in addition to our yearly WDW trip.

I have been to Disneyland once w/my DH, but we haven't taken our kids yet. DH & I also went to WDW a handful of times before we had children. As a family, we try to go to WDW every other year.

My parents swear we went often. :confused3 We would go after a visit to Grandma's in Vero Beach from VA. I know from pics my first visit was as a two year old. Then I have memories when I was 4 at the POLY. Then we didn't go back until I was 11. Stayed somewhere off International Blvd. During that trip we skipped MK, just did MGM and Epcot, SeaWorld, Universal. I didn't get back to MK until I was married.

Now we go every year with our kids and plan to make that a tradition since we only live four hours from Orlando!!:hippie:

I never went when I was really a kid. My mom couldn't afford it when I was small, and by the time she could, I was middle school aged and so busy with sports and other activities that I didn't much want to go on family vacations. Our one and only family trip to WDW was our last whole-family vacation, the summer I graduated from high school.

I didn't really catch the Disney bug until the first time I took my kids, when the olders were 4 & 7 and the baby wasn't even thought of yet. My mom is getting to make up for missing out on taking my brother & I, though - she's joined us for all or part of 3 of our 4 family trips, and will be going with us in May as well.

We lived nearby and my older siblings worked there, so at least once a month for the day and we stayed at the resorts at least 6 times a year. Now that I'm the parent, we go at least 4 times a year to stay for a few days at the different resorts and we have annual passes so we go for the day pretty often when we are at our FL home...

The only trip I remember was when I was about 13, I don't think Grad school counted though my sister did pay for my trip :lmao: Pictures prove my family was there a couple times when I was too young to remember, Disneyland too but I only remember the pictures ;) I'm taking my DD5 on her first Disney trip in less than a month :yay: I hope to be able to take her every year for the foreseeable future, if we have a good time

I went once when I was in 7th or 8th grade. I don't even think it really qualifies as a trip. We were in Florida visiting my Grandma for Christmas and went to the Magic Kingdom for a day trip on 12-28-1980-something. Totally unprepared for Christmas crowds. It was horrible ... I rode Small World, ate a hamburger, listened to my Dad swear, and bought a Mickey sweatshirt. I told everyone at home that it was fun ... I lied.

I returned as an adult with meticulous plans and loved the place. Even overcame my fear of peak season crowds and tackled Easter break twice.

Sounds EXACTLY like me....but I didn't get to buy a Mickey sweatshirt...:rotfl2:

My first trip was at age 9 shorty after it opened and then approximately every other year growing up for March break. My last family trip was when I was 20 and then not again until I went with DH before we were married when I was 29. That was a first week in December trip and temperature and crowd - wise was good for us 15 years ago. Then not again until this past June which was our children's first trip.

We were all sick, it was hot and crowded so DH has decided he hates it and will never go back. I keep explaining that off season - maybe first or second week of January will be comfortable for us northerners and won't be June crowded. So far - resistance, but the rest of us want to go back, so we'll win him over eventually. :rolleyes1

I live in NC and as a child my parents only left the state with me one time, when I was 1 1/2 yrs to go to Busch Gardens Williamsburg.

My first trip to WDW was when I was 27 and DS was 6, we've been to WDW 3 times, 1day trip to DLR, and we're headed to DLR in 2 weeks for a real trip! He's also been on the Disney cruise, to DC, Philly, Pittsburgh, Myrtle Beach, Greenville SC, Los Angeles, and our next plan is to take DH to Beaches resort in Jamaica for his nursing school graduation.

I wish I had my kid's life as a kid :rotfl:! I thank my parents for helping me get through nursing school when DS was very young so that I can provide him opportunities that I never had.

Never. My first trip was for my honeymoon. DH, though, has been a lot--as a child and now as an adult. And we love it!

we went every year as a kid till i hit high school.
The I went for a senior class trip and then not again for 11 years untill this past october with my kids for the first time!

I never went to Disney as a child. I wanted to go and my parent's said, "no." I fully intend for my child to go as much as we can take him, while that not being the only vacations that he gets to take.
