We will be staying at CBR next week for the first time. I have gotten lots of good information about this resort from this board as well as others. One question -- I requested Aruba 51 building because I thought it would be out of the hustle and bustle of OPR and also I know my 6 year old will love going back and forth across the bridge. The more I read on these boards, the more I think I should have requested Jamaica. Is something wrong with the Aruba buildings? I have not read any comments about this particular building. Should I change my request to Jamaica?

I think you will be just fine in Aruba 51...it's the closest Aruba building to the bridge leading over to OPR. You will have fun crossing the bridge, it's very pretty with little paths leading in different directions. The only drawback would be if you had a lot of rain and had to walk that distance. Other than that, Aruba 51 is fine :) I think people mention Jamaica a lot because of the pretty color scheme, but Aruba 51 is just about as close as Jamaica 45, as it looks on the map, and as I remember it from a couple weeks ago when I walked around the entire resort :)

P.S. I have to add... NONE of the buildings are "in the hustle and bustle of OPR", I think this is a very common misconception! I have stayed at Martinique 25 twice which is one of the closest buildings to OPR and it is SOOO pretty and tranquil there, too :) You do not need to be far from OPR to feel far away, if that makes sense! :D

We stayed in Aruba, only the opposite building because it was closer to the bus stop. I would have to agree with the other poster. Our first trip to Disneyworld was unimaginable, but we never EVER imagined how large our hotel was. We LOVED CBR and would stay there again, but it was a 5 minute walk to OPR fromt he room and you could NOT hear any noise. I really wish we could have because we loved the steel drum band in the evenings. OPR is on the other side of the lake and there are a lot of tropical trees and such seperating it so you cant hear much.

Just a note to let you know that Aruba 52 is the smoking building in Aruba..All of the others in Aruba are non-smoking and Jamica is totally NON-smoking!

Hello Seaspray:

I am an early riser, and would like to make a coffee and get outside and sit somewhere and let the others sleep, is there anywhere not too far from martinique 25 to sit, a bench etc.

also I am having to decide whether to go to the poly or car beach, there are four of us, all adult sized, the difference in price is about $75.00 a night in american money but in my canadian money it is $119 a night more at the poly. We will be there 6 nights.

We are not sit down restaurant people, we grab something from a food court is fine for us with our low dollar. The poly's captain cooks was not as good as the moderate food courts.

So I am thinking poly has the balcony I can sit outside and drink my coffee, more space a bed for all of us, but I like the idea of the car beach with the sinks outside the washroom, the new beds, (we would have to rent a rollaway) newly renovated and the tropical surroundings.
Even the monorail I can take or leave. I have stayed at the poly 6 years ago so i know what it is like and visited the car beach then for lunch. Should I let the price lead my way, or the torches at the poly? any comments.

Deb.

Hi cottontail!

I stayed in Martinique just a few weeks ago and often I'd take the short walk to the food court early in the morning before some of my relatives were awake and make a cup of tea and sit on the chairs at the beach :) They are beach chairs and chaise lounges on the beach and hammocks. Also, early in the morning there are plenty of tables and seats in the foodcourt itself, as well as behind the foodcourt, near the pool bar.

As far as chairs right near your room, I did notice a lot of chairs and benches scattered around between the buildings in nice little seating clusters. Of course it would all depend on where your room was, to know whether these would be real close to your own room or not.

One other nice detail about the rooms at CBR is the new privacy curtains between the dressing area (where the double sinks are) and the rest of the room. I'm not sure which other resorts have this curtain but it was so handy for us. :)

Good luck with your decision, I really like the Polynesian too! :)
