Hi, I have to write a speech and my topic is Arts in education. Do any of you go to a school where they are getting rid of your arts programs? If so could I interview you.

Iethor way, please post your thaughts on this outrage.

Nope, my school is big on the arts.
And we're not cutting back on anything...

Aren't they only really trying to do that in the inner-city and like, poor, under-funded schools?
I could be wrong, but that's what I thought.

Either way, it's completely ridiculous.
You can find other things to cut back on.

Sharon Ebel is an art teacher who was fired in 2004. The other teachers at David Thoreau Elementary are now expected to pick up the slack and incorporate art into their curriculums.

this is one of many articles i found
but it would be so awsome if i could find a student afected by this

Even though I don't really particpate in the drama department at skool or much with art class except that I had to take it. I would not want the program to be demolished at my skool. It just wouldn't be fair at all for the kids who like that stuff. I could just imagine how I would be so mad if they shut down the sports programs.

My school has a drama department, we put one one full scale musical a year. We also have the Fine Arts department, where the piano students and art students show there work at one major showcase a year. The student cantors are also part of the fine arts department, and we sing at every mass and school function (that needs music). The school choir is part of the Fine Arts department to. We sing at a local nursing home, travel into Boston and sing there, sing at all the major school events, and put on one major showcase a year.

The only program my school recently got rid of was the Musical Theatre class. Not enough students were taking the class (we have a high school of about 150 students) So it wasn't really needed. They replaced it with a film class, that I am taking, and it is more popular.

Arts is very big in my school.
We've got multiple art and music rooms. The music rooms have a recording studio. The grade 12 art students go to NY every year to go to the Met and other museums.
We have do two drama productions every year, and participate in a district wide presentation (last year it was Fame and this year it's Footloose).

My school doesn't have a good drama department. We have High School and Middle School band and choir. They cut Music and Art in K-6. If you can use me... i'd be happy to answer questions.
