ART's EVE (Everyone Ventures Everywhere) on demand service including Orange County Airport

I was looking up ways to get around and then peeked at the A-Way-WeGo app and saw they can select a new service called EVE - for "Everyone Ventures Everywhere". ART's regular service includes on-demand service, but the areas are somewhat limited. This one seems to include the airport for $15 one way to Anaheim. I'm guessing that they try to get as many passengers together as possible. I've heard of some discussing car services, but this seems like a reasonable alternative.

EVE – (On-Demand Public Transit Service)

Everyone Ventures Everywhere (EVE) is available on-demand, to the public, and operates seven days a week, from 5:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. EVE will pick up at the Ground Transportation Center located on the Arrival (lower) Level between Terminals A and B.

I know some people use car services, or Uber/Lyft, but this seems reasonable. Not as cheap as ART though.

Looks like a real alternative to other modes. I wonder how quick the response will be though. Will it be truly 'on demand' pick up and go (like an Uber), or will it be pick up and wait awhile to see if anyone else needs a lift and/or multiple pickup locations/drop off locations.

They drop you off at any regular ART stop, so not direct to any of the 3 official hotels. What would be the closest ART stop to the Grand Californian Hotel?

Good question! I have no idea. We've always driven down rather than fly. That may change in the near future, though.

I tried playing around with it and there aren't really too many stops on the west side close to the Disney hotels. I don't think ART goes in either. The closest would probably be the Disneyland Main Transportation Center, which is pretty much only used by ART except for cast member shuttles and police vehicles.

I've seen people bringing in wheeled luggage. Heck - I've brought in a large backpack. I'm sure that some guests at the Disney hotels arrive via ART, but yeah it's going to be somewhat of a slog. It's going to be far easier to get to hotels that are close to ART stops.

I've had some interesting experiences using ART's regular on-demand service. Sometimes it just isn't available (or limited) for certain stops during peak times when they're devoting equipment/drivers to the fixed routes. I've had waits as high as 40 minutes. But I'd already bought the ART passes and wasn't about to pay $15 for an Uber ride.

However, it looks like EVE is concentrating on SNA although theoretically a ride wouldn't have to include SNA. I'd think regular ART service would be preferable for most trips around the Anaheim area. But with a concentration on airport trips it sounds like it shouldn't be that difficult to get a ride. I tried playing around with the app and it won't map out sample EVE rides without a ride already purchased. I could do that all day with ART even from my home in Northern California. I've even made a mistake and requested a ride when I was home when I was testing out routes. I mentioned that once to a driver and he said not to worry about it.

I would think that if it's an airport ride it should be fairly frequent service. But I don't think it makes much sense to use it for anything else where regular ART service can be used.

Makes me wonder what the diff is between this EVE and ART's regular on-demand service if they're just dropping at the regular ART stops. And I'm not about to schlep my luggage through DTD security (God help them trying to search my huge suitcase & backpack!) and all the way down to the DTD entrance to the Grand, or ever worse, DLH or PPH! I mean, what's the normal charge for Uber or Lyft from SNA to any of the 3 onsites? Maybe $18-25 (no surge)? EVE is $15. I'll pay that $3-10 extra (+tip) for 'door to door' service any day.

I found a fare finder that said UberX is about $27 without a tip and no surge pricing.

But most visitors aren’t staying at the on-site hotels. It compares favorably with a ride service like Lansky. If I were solo and maybe staying at the Sheraton or Hilton, it would seem like a reasonable option.
