We just made reservations at Artist's Point at WL for dinner. How is the food there and is it a good choice?? :confused3

If they still have the mushroom soup with truffle oil... its fantastic... I can still remember just going... yummmmmmmmm when I had my first spoon full. Its been years since I ate there... but if they still have it and you like mushroom soup... I highly recommend it. :worship:

Artist Point is my favorite Disney restaurant (and I've been to all of the signatures, Bluezoo, Bistro de Paris, and even Napa Rose in DL). Some of the signature dishes are the mushroom soup, buffalo steak, cedar plank salmon, and berry cobbler - all excellent, IMO. The menu is largely inspired by seasonal ingredients, which I really like. Also, a lot of the dishes feature innovative flavor combinations and presentations. I highly recommend it.

We like AP very much. The food was great, and if you are there a little layer in the evening, there seem to be less children, and it is quieter. Our last trip I tried the salmon on a cedar plank, and it was delicious (and I am not a big salmon fan !)

One of our favorites too - never had a bad meal there. And the mushroom soup is awesome!

NOTE: Artist Point was a highly respected and highly touted
eatery 2003-2007. Since that time it changed, and the food,
quality and menu uniqueness began to pale. They have lately
made changes to revive the quality of the food, the menu, and
service. It is getting really close to the reputation of the past. It
has now replaced Bistro de Paris on our list of eateries that we
patronize. And, we only eat at five of them.

As a postscript, if you eat there, get a window table. The view of
courtyard and lake are grand and romantic, versus just looking
at the rest of the dining room. Also, arrive early and have a drink
in the Territory Lounge. It and Mizner's are probably the two bars
at WDW for serentity, civility and atmosphere.

Best appetizer I've ever had, anywhere, in WDW or out, was at Artist's Point in December 2010. It was a special at the time.

Pork shoulder cooked in duck fat, on a bed of butternut squash risotto with a cranberry drizzle. Pork fat cooked in duck fat as we lovingly refer to it now. OMG. Best tasting thing ever.

The rest of the meal was very nice as well. Love the atmosphere. Good server. We'll be back. Among our favorite WDW meals ever.

I loved the pork belly appetizer, DH loved the mushroom soup. He liked his steak, I thought the bison wasn't all that good. I had maybe 2 marble potatoes for a side. Won't go back but was glad we tried it.

Chocolate Indulgence is the best. :lovestruc

We LOVE it there so much! Last trip our meal was so delicious, we went a second time!

We've been there twice. The first time it was the worst meal that trip and last January it was one of the best.
In our case, a huge part of our first experience was the service which was extremely disappointing and didn't make the night any better.

I guess what I am saying is that you can have a bad meal anywhere at any time ;)

Agreed. We've had terrible meals at Citricos and Flying Fish, as well as overall disappointing meals at Artist Point, California Grill, Narcoossee's, Jiko, and Yachtsman. We've also had great meals at each of these places.

In Artist Point's case, the great moments have largely outweighed the bad ones, which is why it's our favorite. Flying Fish falls somewhere in the middle for us (and I love seafood), but it's improving. California Grill and Narcoossee's have gotten worse over time based on our experience (although California Grill's current menu looks really good, so I'd be willing to go back soon). Jiko, Citricos, and Yachtsman are also some of our favorites, but Artist Point just edges them out due to the innovative flavor combinations and a tranquil atmosphere.

If it helps, here are a few of my reviews with pics from this past summer. The menu will be slightly different now, but some things will definitely still be around (mushroom soup, buffalo steak, salmon, berry cobbler, etc).

My restaurant likes/dislikes tend to mirror RustyScupper's. Since he's already chimed in above I'll just suggest you may want to read the dining reviews here when trying to decide. :disrocks:

we ate there for the first time this past early december and had a great meal. i had the cheese plate as an appetizer but tried my sister mushroom soup both were really good. i had bay scallops with mushrooms, onions, and potatoes in a meyer lemon cream sauce as my main course. the chocolate cherry dessert was soooo rich i loved it but couldn't eat to much of it. i'd go again in a heart beat. we really enjoyed the meal.

My parents had their fourth meal at AP last Friday; they loved it, especially the Oregonian pinot noir they chose and the scallops.
