If you have dined at Artist Point, would you do so again, and if not why?
2 adults no kids. slightly ambitious eaters and slight foodies.

any and all opinions welcome:goodvibes

Artist Point is our special treat. We've gone several times and always enjoy it. I have tried the salmon, tenderloin, and braised rib in the past. The smoky portobello soup is to die for and "worth the price of admission" all alone. I also love the coffee two ways dessert that comes with the fixed price menu ($50ish for appetizer, entree, dessert).

we have enjoyed many meals at artist point. it is a lovely restaurant in a lovely setting. the food and service is excellent. you can not go wrong w/dinner at AP. fabulous!!:yay:

Best Salmon I have EVER had in my life!
You should absolutely go to Artist Point, enjoy it!

DW and I try to dine at Artist Point whenever we stay at Wilderness Lodge. It is one of my favorite places at WDW.

I would encourage you to try it. Please let us know what you think when you get back.

Without a doubt, we would dine there again.

Absolutely. The best meal I ever had at Disney. It was much quieter (dined later in the evening) and relaxing.

Enjoy!

If you are adventurous I would definitely try it at least once. It was not one of my favorites, though I did have an awesome wild boar appetizer. I will probably go back someday, I just have alot of other places to try first. (There desserts did not appeal to me, and the service was not on par with other signature restaurants on propoerty.)

OHH Artists Point.. I'm already drooling with lovely food memories!

First of all it's a gorgeous place, very clean and open, definitely a bit more upscale but not intimidatingly so.

The bread was to die for, the buffalo sirloin (which they don't have all the time I hear) was just stunning (just a tip though, if you're a meat well done type of person, don't bother with buffalo because it gets tough and dry very fast, I normal get steak medium but got the buffalo medium rare because of this and OMG it was like butter!) had roasted fingerling potatoes which were scrummy, and double chocolate cheesecake with raspberry coulis and grand marnier whipped cream left me speechless. Total food coma, and the waiter laughed and said people get that look a lot. Totally recommend!

I think you just landed the job as PR person for AP. You just made me want to eat there.:thumbsup2
Is it really expensive?
Would you drag 2 kids (8+4) there?
Anyone can answer these please, thanks.

is one of the quieter signature places at Disney. If your kids are used to dining out at nicer restaurants, then go for it. My son is bit hyper so I have avoided it it with him. He's taking some etiquette classes now including dining so we'll see how he does when he's finished.

I ate there about a month ago with my two kids. We had an early ADR, and the kids menu was good - they really enjoyed the kids salmon and the white chocolate mickey puzzle dessert. I had the mushroom soup and the buffalo sirloin - both were great!

My husband had the boar appetizer and buffalo as well. He insists we must do Artist Point every trip.

Last trip DH & I liked AP so much we ate there twice. First time was w/o DS (5 yrs old, almost 6) the 2nd time was w/ DS. We definitely enjoyed our meal more sans son -- who is usually pretty good in restaraunts. But to be fair that 2nd AP meal was towards the end of the trip & DS was prob more tired & had less patience than usual.

WL does have a kids club, so my advice would be to get AP an ressie for the adults & kids club ressies for the kiddos & everyone gets to enjoy themselves. :thumbsup2

Pig Pen:

I didn't see the prix fix option when I looked at the menu on allears.net. Is this only available sometimes, or do you have to ask for it?

My DH and I ate there just a few short weeks ago. It was the final night of a 4 day anniversary trip. It was probably my favorite meal for a number of reasons....

1. I loved the decor and ambiance of the restaurant. It was big, open, and airy.
2. I loved our waitress. She really went out of her way to make our dinner really special. We did get treated to complimentary champagne, she took our picture, and we got a light up tinkerbell and Steve (???from the cars movie).
3. I loved the food. DH had a crab cake and the buffalo. I had the mussels and the scallops. Everthing was delicious with a nice presentation.
4. I loved the wine pairings
5. I loved taking our time exploring the Wilderness lodge after dinner was done. I loved the WL so much that DH and I will be staying there in the villas in May.

Where else did I eat: Narcoosee's, Flying Fish, Brown Derby, Kona.

Where do I want to eat next: Jiko!

We just returned from a free dining trip! Artist Point was by far the best meal of our trip and one of the most memorable meals I have ever had and in my heart I am a "foodie". We had the tenderloin, salmon, cobbler and rosemary creme brulee - we thought everything was done very well - flavors coming together, presentation, service - something to savor. I appreciated the laid back atmosphere of the restaurant and high caliber of the food. If you enjoy quality food - I think Artist Point is a great choice.:goodvibes

OK! So, I am going to be the total bummer in this love fest. My DH and I ate there a couple of weeks ago and it was our least favorite restaurant of the trip. We shared the cheese plate and were not terribly impressed. The scallop entree was totally way too salty. The 3 course wine sampler was $34.00 and was miserly. I will admit that the chocolate cheesecake with grand marnier mousse was scrumptious. We were also given a berry cobbler as an extra for my birthday and that was ok but I wouldnt order it again. Sorry!! We loved Kona Cafe, Flying Fish and the Yachtsman steakhouse was to die for.

We liked it, but didn't love it.

I can see what others are saying about it being quiet, relaxing. Yeah, I totally get that. The menu is adventurous.

I'm vegetarian, and their potato wonton entree is one of the best vegetarian entrees I've had on property. (I ate the leftovers at room temp later that night. SHHHHH.)

For me, the dining room is not that compelling. It's the most hotel-restaurant-y of the signature restaurants I've tried. The waiter was a bit stiff and kind of falsely pretentious for me (just one guy on one night...).

I LOVE that they feature pacific northwest wines.

Again, for us, it was good, but not great. If you haven't tried it, I would say go for it.

i went there a few weeks ago and it was one of my favorites. i had the spinach, bacon, egg salad as my app which was great. for my entree i had the buffalo sirloin with goat cheese polenta with a side of haricot vert and wax beans. everything was perfectly cooked and seasoned. my mum is not an adventurous eater and did not like it that much because she felt there wasnt that much for her to pick from, when i booked it other food was listed since it changes seasonally. my only annoyance was i have a food allergy and they did not have dessert for me so they had to throw something together.
