Yes it does have a smoky flavor to it but I wouldn't say it's very smoky like a smoked ham or turkey, I hope this helps!

I think we're going to do the whole shebang, and if DS gets fussy, since we're staying at WL, we can take dessert to go!

Hey guys! I posted a separate thread, but thought I'd put this here as well, since you've all been so helpful. I'm wondering if the wdwinfo.com site is accurate in describing Artist Point signature restaurant dress code.

It states,

"For the Signature Dining Restaurants, a "Business Casual" dress code is in effect:

Men - Dress pants, jeans or dress shorts and a T-shirt or long sleeve shirt with collar is required. (Jackets optional.)

Women - Jeans, skirts or dress shorts and blouse, sweater or dress is required.

NOT PERMITTED: Tank tops, swim suits or swim cover ups, hats for gentlemen, cut offs or clothing with rips/tears are not allowed. T-shirts with offensive language/graphics will also not be permitted."


Pretty much accurate in your experience?

I'm thinking khakis and a nice polo for DH, a nice blue plaid button down and shorts for DS, and either a dress or dressy capris and a nice top for myself.

I'd be interested to hear what others have worn/seen at Artist Point. I can't believe they allow jeans, I didn't think that was business casual. If it is, I need to point that out to my employer.

We usually go in August and I can't imagine wearing jeans. I usually wear a broom skirt,doesn't wrinkle and a sleeveless top. Dh always wears the dockers shorts and a pollar shirt with sandals.

Artist Point and Jiko are our two all time favorites at WDW. Since we're local, we go to Artist Point waaay more than we should. That mushroom soup is made up in Heaven and carried down in huge vats by the angels. I adore their cheese plate, too, which changes seasonally. Those two items, plus some spring rolls or the duck appetizer are the perfect "meal." If you're there when copper river salmon is in season, you're in for an extra special treat.

It is definitely a long meal if you're with a toddler, but squirmy kids are pretty much the rule of the day so you won't be alone. It's a lot less formal dresswise than the guidelines would lead you to believe. If we're in a hurry, we just go in jeans and a shirt (although we usually try to be a little dressier than that), and when we do we're never the only ones.

Business casual in an office appears to be an entirely different thing from business casual in a theme resort.

I was not thrown out. I had some venison spring rolls, Copper River salmon and the cheese selection with the wine pairings.

and I forgot to watch the Belmont Stakes.

I just ate there on May 23rd. I wore nice khaki capris and a brown wrap top with a nice necklace. I had posted a couple threads about dress code before my trip (as I've never dined at Disney before), and people just sent me back the basic guide you posted...which was not all that helpful, but hey, people tried.

I was glad I wore what I did and nothing less. A skirt would be fine, too, but after eating at Yachtsman to a very casually-dressed group, I wanted to dress down from a skirt to capris. Sorry if this way TMI.

I had duck for my appetizer, the buffalo for my entree, and the berry cobbler for my dessert. All were delicious. I was weary about the salmon since I had read some reviews saying that it was bland. My boyfriend's dad had it and enjoyed it, so I would not hesitate to try that.

Our server, on the other hand, was something else. His name was Andres, and although helpful at first, we waited a very long time between dinner and dessert. Once our dinner plates were removed and dessert was ordered, we waited over 20 minutes for our tea to come, and then another 20 for the desserts. The whole restaurant could not have been ordering dessert all at once!! However, that is forgiveable. My boyfriend's parents both ordered the wine pairings (3 pairings total), and the final pairing for dessert was forgotten. Andres might've had a bit too much going on that night.

All in all, it was a delicious meal and I had a nice time. Bring a sweater!

I'm not a big fan of salmon....I love fish, but salmon not so much. I did get it one night though, to be fair, and it was quite good. I imagine if I actually like salmon it would have been great. Everyone I know has loved it and the presentation can't be beat.

I haven't finished reading the other pages, but... have you ever had Alaska salmon? Copper River Salmon is the BEST in the world. I can't imagine liking fish and not Copper River Salmon. It can be pricey in the beginning of the season (early May), but if you ever have the chance, PLEASE try it out. Most "salmon" are not even WORTHY to be called Salmon! Especially the Atlantic salmon...farmed, color-added, cancer stuff. I don't have it often now, but I grew up around the stuff and nothing compares.

Had the salmon at Artist Point... it sounded good with the cedar plank and all, but it really wasn't all that. I was not impressed. I wouldn't pay for it... had free dining but if I didn't, I wouldn't get it/pay for it unless it was Wild Alaska salmon...red or king...heck, silver salmon would have tasted better than what they were serving, unfortunately. We were there early Sept. and they were serving King Salmon from Washington.

Loved everything else though! Especially the Valrhona Chocolate Truffle Cake! YUM-O!

Also, DH didn't want to wear slacks or anything semi-casual so I had him wear his darkest colored jeans with a nice polo shirt. I also had a jean skirt on (went down to my knees) with a nice floral top. They didn't say anything about it. This was 2 years ago though.

We have eaten at Artist Point twice and were very disapointed both times. This is the only signature restaurant that we have been disapointed in at WDW.

what was it that you were dissapointed about? I'm eating there for my Christmas dinner this year and I want it to be a great dinner? TIA
