Why not purchase a special small toy that will keep him fascianted, tuck it away and pull it out only minutes before he has had enough? That might buy you enough time to enjoy yourself and not have to rush.

Great idea! I am seriously thinking about a run to our local Dollar Tree before our vacation. They have sooooooo much Disney stuff, puzzles, books, toys, etc.

Kudos for you for recognizing that your 3 year old has limitations in what he can endure!

Thanks! We have so been there, done that in regard to him behaving/not behaving in restaurants, so I'm just trying to stack the odds in my favor.

The geyser sounds neat. Where exactly is it and when does it go off? Is this something that we can see from the restaurant? We're eating there in about a week and a half. What other things should we check out while we're at the WL? (And, btw, what's the best way to get there from SSR?)

Not sure on the exact location of the geyser, maybe you want to check out the Wilderness Lodge FAQ for the best places to view it.

And, I'm guessing, but I think the best way to get there from SSR might be to head over to Downtown Disney and get a bus to the Wilderness Lodge. I'm assuming that would be the quickest. Your other option would be to take a bus to the Magic Kingdom and then hop a bus or go to the boat launch for Wilderness Lodge.

This is what I always do - bus to MK and switch to the WL bus.

The bus from MK to WL is a short trip with no other stops. If you walk or bus to DTD and catch the WL bus there, it will probably stop at Pleasure Island and Typhoon Lagoon at the least, and possibly Fort Wilderness.

If you want a boat ride, you can take the boat from MK to WL.

Hey guys! I posted a separate thread, but thought I'd put this here as well, since you've all been so helpful. I'm wondering if the wdwinfo.com site is accurate in describing Artist Point signature restaurant dress code.

It states,

"For the Signature Dining Restaurants, a "Business Casual" dress code is in effect:

Men - Dress pants, jeans or dress shorts and a T-shirt or long sleeve shirt with collar is required. (Jackets optional.)

Women - Jeans, skirts or dress shorts and blouse, sweater or dress is required.

NOT PERMITTED: Tank tops, swim suits or swim cover ups, hats for gentlemen, cut offs or clothing with rips/tears are not allowed. T-shirts with offensive language/graphics will also not be permitted."


Pretty much accurate in your experience?

I'm thinking khakis and a nice polo for DH, a nice blue plaid button down and shorts for DS, and either a dress or dressy capris and a nice top for myself.

I've been to Artist Point with all three of my kids, the youngest was one at the time. They were great with the kids. They gave them each a coloring sheet and when the kids are done, they hang the pictures on their display board. After all, it is ARTIST point.

My kids loved the puzzle dessert! We go to one signature restaurant a trip and their "prize" for going is to get the fancy kid dessert. AP is their favorite so far. We've also been to California Grill and Jiko.

The mushroom soup is amazing, and I loved the cobbler. Between my DH and me, we had the salmon and buffalo. I thought the buffalo was a bit better, but they were both good!

We LOVED Artist Point! We stayed at the WL and ate there this past Jan. It is such a relaxing resort, and AP is just as relaxing! I loved everything about it. The food was to die for, I had the mushroom soup as an appetizer, and it was soooo good. I had the buffalo steak for my entree, and it was out of this world! I would not hesitate to recommed AP, it was a fantastic dining experience!

It was very good. The only thing that happened was both times I felt the salmon was alittle under cooked. I just sent it back..not a big deal. We were are the dp both times when we ate there. I would go back again as long as we are on the dining plan. I think AP is a good restaurant for the dining plan but if I had to pay oop for it I would n't be happy considering our meal cost $200 for 4 people. kwim?

Totally agree! I don't know how much longer we'll partake of the dining plan, since we typically go during free dining and DS will be starting school in the next couple of years. That being said, I plan to fully enjoy myself this year.

Does the salmon have a smoky flavor from being on the cedar plank?

We'll be dining at AP for the first time in August... Already thinking about the buffalo vs. the beef. I am a big steak lover, but have never had buffalo. I'm afraid that if I don't like it, it will ruin what I am hoping will be a great dining experience. Advice?

They geyser is on the other side of the pool from the lodge. It goes off on the hour. It's not a huge thing - spitting water, and a rising spray, but my son liked it. We were right by the window, overlooking the pool, but we went out on the balcony when it was scheduled. I was there for the food and to just see the lobby. It is awesome! I could spend time in there drinking up the ambiance.

We have eaten at Artist Point twice and were very disapointed both times. This is the only signature restaurant that we have been disapointed in at WDW.

We've been three times (all with kids). We've had a 2 year old, a 1 year old, and a 2 year old and a 2 month old. Our kids are well behaved and had no trouble making it thru a full meal (including appetizer and desert). Yes it does have a smoky flavor to it but I wouldn't say it's very smoky like a smoked ham or turkey, I hope this helps!
