Hello,

I was thinking about making an ADR at Wildermess Lodge for our anniverasary dinner. (We got married at WL) Anyway, I was considering Artist Point, but I am not sure if this would be a good idea for DD3. Would Whispering Canyon Cafe be a better choice? I am not looking for anything romantic as we will have DD3 with us, but rather something we could all enjoy. Any suggestions??

Thanks.

In your case, I'd think that WC was the better choice.

The food is significantly better at AP, but as you said you wanted something that would entertain your daughter and weren't big on a romantic setting, then WC gets the nod.

Just a suggestion, but you might want to consider using the Cub's Den for your Daughter one night so that you and hubby could do a nice romantic dinner at AP.

2 very different places.

1 is a signature restaurant and the other a "antics" restaurant.

Quiet more conservative vs loud and unruley.

The menus are very different as well.

Personally I would pick what menu appealed to me more. (which would be WCC, we love it)

We love Whispering Canyon. Great food and a lot of fun. Our sons joined in the hobby-horse races. And don't forget to ask for ketchup!

While Artist Pointe is more upscale, please remember that all WDW restaurants (except V&A) are very kid-friendly.

Ditto

Keep in mind that what might entertain your daughter just might annoy you.
And WCC is definitely annoying:)

Artist Point is much the better restaurant for food and service.

I would recommend this too but I think the Cub's Den starts at age 4 and up, you can call (407) WDW-DINE to double check.

If your daughter doesn't need to be entertained (i.e. if you take her to regular restaurants at home w/o play areas), go for Artist Point. The food is delicious & it will give you a nice anniversary evening w/ your husband.

Yes. I make no attempt to hide my open contempt of WCC. Lousy food...OBNOXIOUS behavior from everyone. Granted what I hate about it, is exactly what some people love about it. To each their own.

Honestly both of our kids enjoy AP quite a lot. DD3 can get antsy, but we usually bring a few small figures/toys for her and its fine. V-Smile Pocket (educational handheld video game that can be muted) is wonderful. I'm sure some people don't agree with that, but again to each their own. DS7 just loves AP - he loves the salmon. If you can go during Copper River salmon season, its an excellent to to go.

Considering this would be for an anniversary I would definitely go with AP. We've spent 11 anniversary dinners there actually. We married at YC, but honeymooned at WL. They have always been wonderful to us.

I agree, 2 totally different types of places. I loved WC. Just be prepared for lots of kids, loud atmosphere and lots of fun.

If you want a true "family" experience, WC has to be your choice. I'm sure your youngster would like it better.

I always want to like whispering canyon, but you can't really compare it straight up to artist point, they are in different leagues.

I'd go with AP all things being equal-

Artist Point

Atmosphere is good at both; this is what is better at AP:

Because this meal is for YOU, I'd go to Artist Point. Food is fantastic!!! (mmmm....smokey portabello mushroom soup!) They really do their best to accommodate little ones, and I have seen children in there every time we've eaten there. As long as your daughter can sit in a restaurant, I think you'll be fine.

(fwiw, I do enjoy Whispering Canyon as well, but I don't think I'd want to celebrate my anniversary there. Sometimes you need to do something for mom and dad!!)

Even if I could handle the antics at WCC (which I can't) the food is not good. An early reservation at AP will find lots of families dining there and enjoying GOOD food.

I still haven't tried AP - it's on my to do list!
But I did not enjoy WCC. I love silliness, I love antics - they were funny - but the food was awful!
I'm not a food snob by any means - I like most restaurants at Disney - but I was not impressed with WCC.
Go for AP!
